I Am Not Afraid To Walk This World Alone

-Kobra Kid's POV-

I rolled over in my bed, expecting to feel the warmth radiating off of Atom, but I felt none. I opened my eyes slowly and was confused when I didn't see Atom in the room. Her clothes were gone, and her side of the bed had gone cold. "Where did she go?" I remembered that she liked to go out early and walk around outside, so maybe she was already up and out. I closed my eyes again and stretched, feeling my stiff back crack and loosen up. I got up and dressed, I ran my fingers through my hair and smiled. I can't believe I did that with Atom. I truly loved her, more than I could even fathom. I felt a small pain in my head from last nights drinking, but I've felt worse pain, so It wasn't half bad. I walked out into the diner and I looked around for Atom. "What are you looking for?" Ghoul asked, he was walking out of his room, he had rings under his eyes. "Atom, have you seen her?" He shook his head and walked past me out the door. "Party was on watch, I'll ask him," He climbed up onto the roof and I heard him, "Where the Hell is he?" He jumped back down. I gave him a look, "Bed room?" We jogged back inside and ran to his room. Jet had gotten up by now and was confused by the commotion. "He's not there," Ghoul said.

We walked back outside to look around. "The car's gone," "Maybe Party took her to debrief?" I sighed. I was pacing around the diner nervously. I didn't want Atom to be with him, defiantly not alone. "We'll have to wait I guess," "Relax Kobra, they'll be back soon, they are strong they can fight anything in their way," I smiled at Ghoul's comment. Even thought the last few days had hurt our relationship, I knew it was nearly impossible to hate him. I hugged Ghoul tightly and smiled when we let go.

"It's been like six hours! Where are they?" I grumbled. I was so angry at Party, I was going to kill him. But not before hugging Atom, I've missed her. The radio's static grew louder and cut to Dr. D. "Listen up killjoys! We just got a report coming from one of the Four, saying that they found the body of Bomber Babe on the street in sector 4. Keep your guns close and keep an eye out. Report any drac sightings to me to keep everyone safe," That must have been Party who reported it. "No- no no no. NO!" I heard Jet scream grabbing the radio. "That can't be true!" He was crying. I tried to comfort him by rubbing his back. "But-But Party wouldn't lie, he also knows what Bomber looks like," He held his face in his hands and I pulled him close. "It'll be fine Jet, trust me," Just then the door to the diner flew open. I turned around and saw Party, he kept his eyes on the floor and tried to walk past us.

"Where the Hell have you been?" Ghoul asked. I didn't concentrate on the answer, I was looking behind him. I was expecting a small, red headed, beautiful Atom to come jogging in behind him. But she never did. "W-Where is she." I said staring at the door. Party didn't answer. I got up and grabbed his shoulders making sure he looked at me. "Where. The. Hell. Is. Atom!?" He gulped loudly. "TELL ME" I shouted. "Back at her own place. She and I left this morning," I dropped my arms from my brother's shoulders. "W-why?" Ghoul asked. I slumped down onto the floor. "She and I agreed it was for the best of the Four, I felt bad, but she said it was smart," He sighed. "I'm sorry," Ghoul ran back to his room and slammed the door, I wanted to scream and run away, but nothing was working. Jet had gone outside to release his anger and I could hear him screaming and sobbing. Party staggered back to his room slowly, but I just sat there frozen, unable to do anything. I felt my hands begin to shake, and I looked down at them, my entire body was quivering. I felt tears forming in my eyes, and then they crawled over my lashes. I haven't cried in years, and now I was sobbing. a soft noise escaped my mouth and i covered it quickly. We were broken. I was broken.

Without Atom, I wasn't able to do anything.
