I woke up at the movement in the bed with me. Kobra was always one to sleep late, so I must have slept for a long time. His warmth left the bed and I heard him moving around the room. I lazily opened my eyes and saw Kobra pulling his shirt on. I smiled, but I still felt poorly. He turned around and saw that I was awake. "Good morning," He smiled. He walked back over toward me and helped me up. We walked slowly to the main part of the diner and I was greeted by the others. "How's the side?" Party had a concerned look on his face. I shrugged my shoulders and looked down at my hands. "Hey, what's wrong?" Ghoul asked, he was sitting next to Party on the other side of the booth. "It's nothing. I'm-I'm just having a rough few days," I saw Kobra's smile fade and become a small frown. The group seemed to all sigh at the same time. Then, suddenly the radio cut from static to Dr. Death Defying. "Here's a warning to all the killjoys out there. There are two cars of dracs heading toward sector 5, they seem to be heading to the gas station. Be careful, keep your guns close. We'll be calling the Fabulous Four to handle the situation. This is Dr. D signing off," The radio cut back to static. I looked up at the Four and they were all looking at me. "We'll be right back," was all Party said.
Kobra helped me back to my room and laid me down on the bed. "Here, keep your gun close," He put my gun, which was freshly painted a vibrant blue, on the bed next to me. "It won't take long, I'll be right back. Here," Kobra ran to his room, and returned with one of his blankets. He spread it over me and then turned and shut the door on the way out. I heard the engine start up and then slowly fade away. I decided to take advantage of this alone time, and fell asleep.
I heard the door of the diner open, my eyes fluttered open fast. I was excited to hear about the fight and I was hoping no one got hurt. When I heard the footsteps however, I only heard one pair. I was confused for a moment and then I heard doors being opened and closed. I reached over and grabbed my gun, my hands were shaking, but I was still able to keep a good grip on it. I clicked off the safety and sat up and rested back on my elbow. My side was hurting, but I ignored it. I heard the footsteps grow nearer and the finally, my door was next. the door swung open and I was greeted by another girl killjoy. "Who the hell are you?" she asked. "I'd like to ask the same," I had my gun aimed on her, her hands where near her sides, but I saw her gun strapped to her boot. "I'm Bomber, I'm dating Jet," When I heard that I lowered my gun and flicked on the safety. "So, who are you?" she walked close to me, she must have noticed that I couldn't move. "I'm Atom, Kobra fixed up my side, and I can't really move," She nodded her head and turned around. "I'm going to wait for them, you can go back to sleep if you wish," She walked out the door, but didn't close it.
I heard the slam of a car door and then the loud talking of the Four. "Hey Bomber!" I heard a chorus of shouts. "Kobra, keep your girlfriend from shooting me," she snickered. "Uh-um Sh-she's not my girlfriend," I could feel the tension in the air and decided to try and get up. I sat up on the bed, my side hurting much less. I tried to stand and walk out but when I got to the door, Ghoul was there. "Oh, hey! Look who's finally up!" He smiled. I held up my arms wanting him to hug me and he complied, being careful of my side. "How were the dracs?" "Easy, well-" "What?" "Party had a close call, that's all," I stiffened up and let go of Ghoul. He walked to his room and I headed out to the front where I saw Kobra begging Party to come back with him. "Come on Party, please," Party was about to say something when he saw me. "Hey," he smiled and sat up and I saw the large burn on his arm. "Party," I whispered. I headed over to him as fast as I could. "It's not as bad as it looks," He tried to reassure me. It didn't work.
"Just let Kobra help you out, please?" I was begging Party. He had spent the entire day in pain, not letting Kobra fix him up. "I swear, I'm fine," He was trying to act tough, but I could see the pain he suffered every time his arm touched something. "Please," I said grabbing his shoulders. He rolled his eyes and called Kobra. They went to the room I was in all day yesterday. I was left alone with Ghoul, because Jet was inside getting the Power-Pup cans. "So," I said looking at my feet. "Sooo," He said back, letting out a long sigh. I remained quiet because he seemed to not want to talk. "Do you like Kobra?" Ghoul said bluntly. "Uhh. I-I, uh," I couldn't think straight. "I mean, it's okay if you do. But- I'd like to know so I can prepare myself for not getting your amazing hugs," Ghoul was poking the fire in front of us. I was bewildered by his comment and didn't know what to think of it. "Kobra and I aren't a thing, I'm no one's thing," I said looking up at Ghoul's eyes, which were avoiding mine. "It's just- I know about Party and Kobra, and they are both great guys, much better than me. They always have girlfriends. But not poor old Ghoul, everyone forgets about Ghoul," He was about to stand up, but I pulled him down by the hand. "Ghoul! Never, ever say that again! You are an amazing guy! It's just, everyone of you deserve something better than me. I'm just a screw up that should have been dead a long time ago," I felt the burning sensation on my eyes, so I decided to head in and skip dinner. I got up, half expecting Ghoul to make me stay, but I'm glad he didn't.
