Nia Phoenix recently started a podcast so I decided to grace it with my presence to discuss divorce, affairs and finding new love as a single parent. There is nobody that I would rather do this interview with than Serenity's God mother.

"Welcome back to Talks with Aunt Nia." Nia smiles big as she we shake our iced lattes around. "Today we are joined by one of my favorite people on earth, Elle Lex."

"Thank you for having me on your podcast." I smile at her before taking a long sip of my latte. "You're so lucky that you're my best friend because tea is about to be spilt today."

"I'm so excited." She claps her hands together. "How have you been doing?"

"Post divorce or in general?" I pull a face as I think of how much my life has changed in a span of a few months.

"Whatever you feel like answering."

"I'm doing a lot better." I answer truthfully. "I didn't know how I would survive without Juan in my life since we had been like velcro for so many years and he was the one who pushed me to get back into music."

"Juan is Colombian singer Maluma." Nia clarifies for the viewers.

"Being separated was one of the best decisions that we could have made as I realised that I could survive without him. It was tough at first since our lives revolved around eachother but one day I woke up... and I knew what to do." I rub my lips together. "That's when I realised that I knew I could do it."

"When did you decide that it was time to get a divorce?" Nia leans forward. "What was the last straw?"

"Juan had several affairs while we were married and I was willing to move past that until he made the decision to go public with it." I pause for a moment as I think of the backlash that I received from the public for choosing to stay. "Then came the lack of accountability from Juan which drove me crazy. He expected me to move on as if nothing had happened but a lot needed to be done within our marriage because he had broken my trust."

Nia nods her head before reaching for my hand, "I personally want to say that you are a courageous woman who is not only beautiful, insanely talented but an amazing mother. I'm proud to have seen you make it through this dark storm because you didn't deserve what happened to you. Sometimes life has a way of testing your limits and I would like to believe that was your test of independence."
