I never meant to find someone like you
I wasn't even trying to
But I went and you appeared
As if I'd called you all along
I'm a little late
But this time not TOO far gone.
You looked me in the eye and I wondered "is this home?"
It's only been a bit but I still see you in your throne
You stood out to me
Like a white squirrel on a brown tree
I can't explain why, but are you here to save me?
I didn't know I needed more, I thought what I'd had was plenty
But here I am missing you as if I'd known you so much longer
I think that what we'll do is maybe make each other stronger?
What I felt was a connection
It was warm like a convection
No one else could see
How you smiled right at me
Did I dream it or were you glad?
Glad that I was there, watching YOU
Silently screaming your name.
Not out loud
But all the same.
I hope your confidence rubs off
On me, maybe that's the point
You inspire my poetry
I'm crazy, don't you see?
Maybe that's what draws me
Because you're insane, a lot like me
Though we have so many differences,
You even make me fear
But it all comes back to the way it was
When I felt your gaze on mine
Now I just know I'll be fine.
