"Yeah, then some jerk called and tried to creep me out."
It was dark by the time Molly and Tatum left downtown and were headed to Sidney's house. They were definitely late on picking her up.
After hearing that small bit about what happened the night before, Tatum insisted that Molly tell her everything else that occurred at her and Stu's movie night.
"And it wasn't Randy?" Tatum asked with furrowed eyebrows.
Molly shrugged. "I don't think so." She paused and then shook her head. "No. It wasn't him. It couldn't have been. Randy doesn't have the guts to be that creepy..."
Tatum looked over at her friend, seeing that she was staring down at the floorboards of the car warily. She reached over to touch Molly's arm and offered a co.forting smile.
"Hey, I'm sure it was just some jerk prank calling, like you said."
Molly looked back up at her. "Yeah, you're probably right."
Molly hoped she was right.
As they turned down the long road that Sidney's house was on, the two girls furrowed their eyebrows when a police car sped past them in the opposite direction.
Molly turned in her seat to watch it drive away behind them. "The hell...?"
Their questions only multiplied when they neared Sidney's house and saw about a dozen police cars sitting her driveway with blinding flashing lights. They caught a glimpse of a girl sitting in an ambulance with a blanket around her.
It was Sidney.
As Tatum pulled into the driveway, Molly was already unbuckling her seatbelt.
"Shit!" Cursed Molly as she threw open her door and jumped out. Tatum was close behind her. "Sid!"
The two girls pushed past the officers crowding around the ambulance to get to their friend. Sidney looked positively shaken. Molly hated that look on her face, because she'd seen it there before.
"God, Sid, I'm so sorry we were late." Tatum said. "Are you alright?"
"Tatum, Molly, you guys can't be here. This is an official crime scene." Said Deputy Dewey Riley - Tatum's older brother - as he started to pull them away slightly.
"It's okay." Sidney said immediately. Dewey paused.
Tatum shook her arm out of her brother's hand. "Her dad's out of town, alright? She's staying with us tonight. Molly's tagging along."
"Does mom know?" Dewey asked tentatively.
Tatum gave him a look. "Yes, doofus."
When she and Molly turned back to Sidney, the Sherif was helping her out of the ambulance. "Let's get you out of here." As they led her over to Dewey's police car, a woman in the ambulance assured them she would be alright.
As Molly reluctantly followed Tatum back to her car, she chanced a glance back at Dewey, and caught a glimpse of him handing the Sherif what looked like the Ghostface Halloween costume as though it were evidence.
The killer had been wearing it.
Glancing back at Tatum, Molly hurried back towards her brother before he got into his car.
"Dewey!" She called. He turned around. Molly came up in front of him. "Dewey...who's the suspect?"
Dewey sighed. "Molly, I can't tell you that."
Molly's eyebrows curved in a scowl. "Dewey, one of my bestfriends is sitting in your car utterly terrified for the second time in her life. That's two too many times, Dew. Now, Tatum and I are going to the station with you guys either way, so, tell me who the suspect is." Molly paused. "Please." She added quickly.
