"Molly, did you hear me?"

"Molly, did you hear me?"

Molly jumped slightly, looking up at Dewey Riley across the table from her. "Sorry, what?"

"I said you don't look too good." Dewey said, concern in his voice and expression.

Molly sat up straighter. "I uh...I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. I never do."

Stu, who sat beside her, place his hand on her knee. She slid her hand over his and rubbed her thumb over it.

It was the next day. Molly, Stu and Billy had stayed the night at Gale's house due to her insisting it was better for them if they all stuck together giving what was going on. Dewey had called Gale and asked her bring Molly and the boys, and to meet him at a café that morning. He wanted to know why they were working with Detective Mark Kincaid.

"Look, Dewey," Gale said, trying to get them back on subject. "I only got into this because the police asked for my help." She told him.

Dewey seemed skeptical. "Why would the police come to you?"

Gale gave him a look. "Because they also asked me to contact Stu and Billy. Monty Lipton's finger prints were at Cotton's murder site, they wanted to know if Monty had told them anything about other allies or another plan that someone could have found out about and carried out. And Molly's been a victim of these bloodbaths twice now, she could be one again."

Molly raised an eyebrow. "Wow. Way to make me feel better, Gale."

She shot the younger girl a look before turning back to Dewey. "And I did write the definitive book on the Woodsboro Murders."

"And I'm sure you just can't wait to write another one." Dewey said, mockingly.

Gale sighed and tossed a hand. "What about you?"

Dewey knitted his eyebrows. "What about me?"

"You said you'd never leave Woodsboro." Gale said matter-of-factly. " 'The only place that's real'." She quoted. Dewey just stared at her, and Gale sighed. "But now you're here. Not with me."
