Half and Half

Shaurya- Yes Anokhi! Yes right there. Yes. That's where I want it you to paint.

Anokhi- But I can't. Iss angle se kaise! Thodasa wait karo.

Shaurya- Kya wait? Haan. Bas thodasa hath ko ghumao brush pohonch jayega. You can touch it!

Anokhi- Mujhe sprain ho jayega!

Shaurya- I am the expert right? I have more experience...

Anokhi- Yes! Experience at seeing not doing...

Shaurya- Yes toh NYC se seekh ke aaya hoon. Art appreciation.

Anokhi- PS! Mein yahan se pot ke dusre side pe kaise paint karoon. Mujhe uss side mein jaake baithna padega. Aur aap ho ki pot hilane tak nhi de rhe. Mujhe jagah kaise milegi dusra side karne ke liye. Patience chahiye hota hai PS! Aise jaldbazi mein naa ho paega!

Shaurya- Oh Anokhi! Mujhe aaj hi complete karna hai.

Anokhi- I know! But patience. Lagta hai. Kuch bhi banane mein. Aap dhayan ke kariye. Pure pot pe dhyaan mat dijiye. Ek line pe dhyaan dijiye. Try to draw the best line ever.

Shaurya- Line bana toh dia.

Anokhi- Ek sira patla hai aur doosr sira itna ghana aur mota. Iss taraf jab paint kia tab brush bohot zyada pani mein dala hoga. Color bohot pheeka hua hai.  Theekh se kariye.

Shaurya- OK madam!

Anokhi- Yeh dekhiye! Aise karte hai line draw.

Shaurya- Anokhi ab 29 ki umar mein line draw karna seekha ke bezati mat karo.

Anokhi- Aapko seekhna nhi hai toh alag pot pe kar leti hoon mein. Aap apna dekhiye.

Shaurya- OK! OK! Sikhao.

Anokhi makes a few brush strokes. Shaurya keenly observes.

Shaurya- Hmmm. Theekh hai. I wanted to go more complex. Yeh bohot simple design hai.

Anokhi- Shaurya aap directly proffesor ban gye kya? Bina first class kiye aap tenth mejn pohonch gye the kya? Fir! Practice and patience PS! Patience 0 hai aapka.

Shaurya- Pata hai! Ab kya kar sakte hai? Ab jaldi se woh flower complete karo....

Anokhi- PS!!!! Ab aap hi kariye. And fir result dekhiye. Agar aapne akele nhi kia toh aapko patience ka importance nhi pata lagna hai!

Shaurya- Anokhi! Dekho gussa mat karo.

Anokhi- Gussa ki baat nhi hai. Aap karke dekhiye please. Please patience toh hai nhi. But upar se zid. Ek baar toh kariye.

Shaurya gives in and starts to paint as Anokhi continues to watch him.

Shaurya- Ho gya! But yeh thodasa I mean... Kafi weird nhi hai?

Anokhi- Haan thodasa. But first times are always like that right? I mean it's important to be ok making mistakes and that's one of those beautiful parts right allowing yourself to screw up? But yeah thodasa patience. And it can be beautiful. Isliye jaldi jaldi mein nhi karna chahiye.

Shaurya- OK I guess you are right! But I guess I always have got what I wanted. I mean.... That's why I have never had any use for patience.

Anokhi- But it's not a bad thing to have? I mean kabhi naa kabhi kaam aaeyaga?

Shaurya- Maybe.... But it's excruciating to learn to wait.

Anokhi- Maybe! Waiting is not easy. But yeah you remember I made you wait quite a bit for our date?

Shaurya- Yeah! I did. See I am not that impatient.

Anokhi- True. But scope for improvement toh hai. Waise next Sunday fir mil rhe hai naa for this?

Shaurya- No... Next Sunday aur Monday ko Diwali hai. So dono mein se ek din Sabbarwaal house jayenge. At your advise.

Anokhi- Hmmm. Good! PS.

Shaurya- But hum log kya karenge?

Anokhi- Diwali toh family festival hoti hai.

Shaurya- Oh really! Diwali romantic bhi ho sakti hai.

Anokhi- Shayd! Par you need to go to Sabbarwaal house. I want you to focus on that.

Shaurya- Arre wahin pe nhi rahoonga pura din. Subah jayenge aur shaam tak aane ka plan hai. Diwali ghar pe bhi karni hai.

Anokhi- Are you sure!

Shaurya- Haan I am. Aa jaana time se.

Anokhi- OK!

Shaurya- Great!

Anokhi- PS! Mein yeh pot leke jaoon? Mere room ke liye. I left all my pots at home. In storeroom.... So can I have this.

Shaurya- You can but actually I have another pot and I can give you the paints. Tum bana lo achaa saa pot. Yeh kitna bakwas hai.

Anokhi- Nhi Shaurya! I want this only. It's the memory of the first pot we painted together. It's special.

Shaurya- It's special for me too. Wait!

He breaks the pot.

Anokhi- Yeh kya kia? Dimaag kharab ho gya hai?

Shaurya- Nhi! But I felt jaan. Should we not have one half of it each. I mean it's always not going to be easy to keep things together. But can sometimes break something to build what we have right! Not always only when it makes sense or feels right but we are not going to give up on the us right? Ever!

Anokhi- True but it was our first pot. Tum hi rakh lete.

Shaurya- Anokhi! It makes sense to me both have a half. We should share right?

Anokhi- Hmm. Fine!

They pick the pieces up and Anokhi takes one half with her to the hostel and Shaurya places the other half on his night table stand. After taking a picture and uploading it on insta. Without a caption. Because somethings are too much for a caption.
