Selene's POV:

I had grown tired of these werewolves that seemed to think they had any say in my city. The Guerrera Wolf pack controlled the docks and shipping. Marcel told me it was an agreement Niklaus and Elijah had made. I told him they had been fucking stupid or drunk at the time. This wolves were nothing but criminals. I would not stand for it. I decided it was time to end them. Especially when I found out they were allied with the fucking Crescent Wolves. They were the clan that kidnapped me as a child. So I felt no pity or mercy as I had the entire pack wiped out. When Marcel brought me a lone survivor an infant I removed the wolf from his bloodline leaving him and his descendants human. I then allowed his to be adopted out. I had also cursed his line should any turn to crime or betray me they would die painfully.

Once that pack was eradicated from my city I formed the supernatural council. I allowed each faction to have representatives. The Vampires were represented by Jacques. The Werewolves was a beta from the Crescent wolves. They had learned their lessons and agreed to stay away from me. The witches sent one of their elders and the humans had the mayor, chief of police and the priest of St. Anne's. I placed Marcel as Council leader and King of New Orleans. He proclaimed me the Goddess Queen and True Ruler of New Orleans.
From that day on no one dared step out of line in my city and there was no fighting between the factions.

1942 A.D.:

I spent 1 night a week holding court in the compound. Anyone with a grudge or problem could come seek advice or justice on that night. It was one of the things that helped keep the peace. I had felt it the moment Damon entered the city, but I would not chase after any man anymore. Well Finn perhaps would be the exception. I had decided if he found me he could speak.

He found me on one of my court nights. I sat on my throne with Marcel next to me. Finn and the others occupying the couches just next to me in case I wanted their opinion. Fenrir stood to my left as always. He was my most loyal. This evening as I was holding court, I had just dealt with a rogue wolf. When the next person was Damon. As he approached Matteo and Marco blocked him both glaring at their birth father.
"Boys!" I snapped. "Sit down and behave."
They glared at him once more, while he stared at them in shock at the identical looks to himself on them.  They then nodded and in unison said, "Yes mother." They rejoined the others on the couch. Finn now stood to my right between me and Marcel who had curiosity in his eyes. Fenrir narrowed his eyes at Damon.
"Well well if it isn't the husband who tossed his sons and I to the side for the doppelwhore." I said bored as I rested my head on my fist leaning to the side of my throne. Fenrir and the rest of the family growled low. Marcel's eyebrows shot up surprised. He chuckled low. Finn glared from my side.
"What do you want Damon?" I asked.
He stepped forward and knelt.
"A chance."
"A chance for what?"
"A chance to explain and a chance to earn my wife and family back."
"Why so you can dump us again?"
"Never, never again. I have spent this time searching for you and the boys. I never gave up hope I would find you even when I felt the loss of you."
I tipped my head to the side studying him. Lol appeared to me only and smirked as he walked around Damon.
"As much as I hate what he did his words are true. I have checked and spied on him as well over the years. He has been faithful since his turn and sought to find you and the boys. He mourned your loss and swore if he ever found you again to spend the eternity making it up to you."
I nodded listening to Kol and then looked to Damon. "How can I be sure you won't betray me again and leave the first chance you get?"
"I, Damon Salvatore, swear my true and only loyalty to you from this day until my last. If I betray you I will submit myself to you for the destruction of your choosing. All I want is the woman I love and married back and a chance to get to know our children."
I looked to Finn. He stared at Damon hard then looked down to me and sighed nodding slightly. I nodded then.

"You have one chance Damon. It starts with your explanation. If I don't like it. You will leave and never come near us again. If you do I will destroy you."

He nodded,"I agree."
"Then explain."
"I was compelled both times. The first while I was at war started out a spell to ignore your very existence, but then later the same warlock who was now a heretic vampire appeared and compelled me. He said I was to ask for a divorce and be indifferent to you and my children. That if asked my reason it was because you cheated on me with someone in town and that the boys weren't mine."
I arched a brow, "Why would he do this?"
"I don't know. I thought Oscar was my friend, but I do know he muttered about she owed him for this after the compulsion."
"And with Katherine?"
"She held me under compulsion she said if she could strike at anyone named Mikaelson and cause them pain then it was a very good day for her. She enjoyed watching me break your heart. She used me as a tool to hurt you."
My magic flared at that. If I ever got my hands on that whore she would burn. Finn placed a calming hand on my shoulder when a crack appeared at my feet. I smiled to him and waved my hand repairing the floor. I then sighed looking to my sons who watched me worriedly before looking to Damon.
"You have on chance to redeem yourself with us. You reasons are now understandable. Do not expect me to be the same loving woman any time soon. But you may get to know our family and I once more."
