This country was nice, yet crowded. People from here were hospitable. Certainly, this country has the most popularly known tourist spots in every corner from north to south, east to west, according to his research.
Which means that this country was rich of natural resources, and people from here were used to see and meet foreigners.
The country only have two climate, the dry and the wet season. Currently, it was dry season this month if not for the fact that the sun shines brightly and scorching hot. People stood under the shades of the buildings, preventing the sun's heat from eating their skin. Good thing, he called Lucas to prepare a car before he arrives and did not need to walk under the sun's heat to get inside the airport building, which was only a wastes of his time.
Zeke was here many times before but when he started his business here, it was the first time he came to visit to his one of the newest hotel buildings in this country, had met his manager who manages the hotel, and had read her report.
It was also when he saw that woman in the cafe.
Stepping out of the jet, he didn't wastes any minute in getting in his car and drove off out of the airport. Lucas was an efficient PA and a good friend. But his not going to say it to him. Not ever.
Since he was here once, he knew his way around the small city very well and went straight to the coffee shop where he saw the woman.
Zeke spent his entire afternoon sitting there waiting for the woman to come in just like before, just incase. He did not even looked anywhere but entrance and to his disappointment she didn't appear. He even placed himself on the very same spot where he was seated last time. God. He was waiting in vain and had wasted an entire afternoon, tired from the journey, when he could've done some work in the office. Not that he regretted waiting for her, he would be delighted if she showed herself up and let him see her even just from afar, it's just that he was starting to be impatient and a little antsy to see her once again.
Evening came and she still didn't appear. Well, he really didn't have tried his ways to see the woman.
He was just sitting there, three empty coffee cups in front of him while waiting there not doing anything. He sighed. He's so tired and wanted to retire early for the night. The only thing that keep him from falling asleep on the table was excitement, wanting to catch a glimpse of the woman he wasn't successful enough to take his mind off. Decided to call it a night, he went out of the cafe and on to the street to where he had parked his car.
He planned on staying at his own hotel this evening and go back to the cafe in the morning before he return to New York.
He was about to reach his car door when he caught the intoxicating scent blocks away from him.
He couldn't be wrong.
He knew that smell, that scent, in fact, he longed for it for months. The scent of cheery blossom flower and spring trees, wrapped around him like a blanket on the most cold night, relaxing him and warming him to sleep.
He turned towards the direction of the scent and squealed inwardly in excitement. Like a little kid getting candies.
She's here!
She's finally here!He stood frozen beside his car, watching the little woman that was slowly closing the distance from him. She's walking slowly, swaying slightly before stopping her steps. She was going to pass by him any moment yet he stood there holding his breath, unblinking. Afraid that she might dissappear from him sight. There she was.
What was she doing out here this late at night? And alone?
Wait.
Was she drunk?
Then it clicked, registers in his mind that the woman has other scents on her. Sweet scent from a female, sweat, alcohol and a strong scent from... a male.
Glaring at no one in particular, his mind continues on,
Does this woman went with a guy.
Was the guy her boyfriend, somehow? He suddenly felt angry.
Angry of thinking that this female was owned by another man, not him.
Angry of himself for being late to meet her.
Angry of himself why he feels so protective over her.He felt his beast stir in his mind. He knew that his beast felt exactly what he felt. Knew his thoughts and even share the same feelings thinking that the woman was taken.
Outrage.
Impatient.
He can feel his wolf pacing inside his mind, wanted to go out. He wasn't able to let it out and run for a long time due to the business he made with another beast like him. He can't risk it. Nobody knew that he has a beast inside his mind even to his own kin. They didn't know he was one of their kind and they didn't know that he know about them. He was good at hiding his other self after living a long life hundreds more than normal.
He was the only one who has this gift. An immortal wolf gift from the moon goddess.
Not even the king of wolves himself was immortal.
Not anyone.
But him.
And he didn't need complications living the life they way he wanted.
"This woman didn't even know you, Zeke." Teber, his wolf said.
"I know that. But can you explain why we feel this way towards her?" he asked Teber, frustration seeping in his voice. Teber didn't know the answer either. He didn't understand and didn't know what's happening to them. It was new yet familiar. They were both drawn to the woman that was currently looking up, watching the stars and smiling.
"She's beautiful, isn't she?" Zeke asked his wolf. Teber just gave his answer as usual, silence. But he know that the latter was restless, just like him.
The woman started to walk slowly again, stops when she feels dizzy and began her walk again.
"Why don't you go and show yourself to her. Let's ask her name!" Teber suggested making Zeke paused for a second before continuing his steps unknowingly.
"No. I mean, it was a good idea but not a smart one. She's drunk, Teb!" he replied, glaring in mind. He didn't even notice that he was started to follow her to where she was going, keeping the distance away, with all his might not to run to her and sweep her up in his arms, as corny as it sounds.
He heard the woman's giggles, god, it was a music to his ears. His wolf purrs. He wanted to hear it again and again but right at this moment the woman stopped walking. Now aware of him now. From the distance they were in, he can still hear the fast beating of her heart in her chest. She's terrified.
Zeke stood still and kept his distance away from her and he released a breath when she started walking again, getting in the building and dissappear from his sight. He stood there frozen, like he was paralyzed. Unsure of what to do. When he thought that the woman won't come out again, he started to turn back to leave but then his eyes caught her again up in the room on top level floor of the building.
Her window was open and she was certainly unaware of that fact because he saw her tossing herself on what he assumed was bed, changed her clothes to a white oversized shirt and talked to someone on the phone.
Totally oblivious.
And it made him glad, and
Mad.
What if he wasn't the one who witnessed those what he just saw?
"Like they can see her from down here, Zeke." Teb snapped at him, shaking his head. Right.
After some time when he was sure that the woman was soundly asleep, he drove off to the hotel.
Needing to have a cold shower before going to bed.
