Her mother ran into a building, breathing heavily as explosions and shots rang out. "Just....Stay here!" She shouted at her daughter before taking off into the Tanto building far away. The girl froze in fear, crying from the shock of it all.
She couldn't take it anymore, she needed to get out of there. She took off and left, running to the nearest place to stay hidden.
The shots were terrifying. Hiding behind the light pole was 13 year old Charlie, she was scared and alone. Her mother had abandoned her.
Charlie took a deep breath before running towards a building for shelter, a few men caught her and aimed their guns, Charlie grabbed a gun off of a dead man and hid behind a telephone box, she turned around and shot.
Charlie wasn't new to guns, her father had a hunting business over in America, when her and her mother lived there she was raised on how to use guns. After all, it was America.
Charlie shot the men, injuring some and killing a few. She didn't care about her conscience, she only cared about getting the hell out of there.
She ran into a building, smoke and fire was everywhere. "Mom!" She called out, searching for her mother in the building they were in.
She didn't know her mother had left. She didn't know that her mother had abandoned her for dead. The poor girl thought that her mother was stuck in the building.
"Mom!" She called out again, the sound of a gun cocking back drew her attention. A man in a beanie with a beard held a gun out at her, not knowing if she was safe.
She quickly pulled her gun out, pointing it at the man, the man instantly paused, "okay, okay, let's calm down here." He said, slowly putting his gun away, "it's okay, kid, I'm on your side." He said, showing his patch with the British flag, "I'm Captain Price, can you put your gun away?" He asked, Charlie shook her head.
"I know, this is scary for you, but please put it down." He spoke, his voice soft. Charlie hesitated, but eventually put the gun down and out of sight. Price slowly walked over, taking the gun away from Charlie, "clear." He said. Behind him, a young man walked in, "the hell is a kid doing here?" He asked, he looked over at Charlie, who was horrified, all she wanted was to go home.
Charlie looked at the two men. "C'mon, kid, let's get you out of here." Price said, picking the girl up and holding her close before bringing her to an ambulance close by.
She would never forget this day. This was the day that changed her life.
