Chapter 18: My Hero

Burning Flame:

Today, I have baseball tryouts after school. Everyone's encouraging me like Flash, Vinyl etc. However, Rainbow has had a scowl on her face all day. I walk up to her and ask " Hey Rainbow, why are you so angry today?" She turns to me and makes the face (a/n: the one in the picture above, you'll get it if you've watched "Tanks for the Memories") and says "Do I look angry?!?" I just looked at her with a confused look on my face. She then looks away with an ashamed look. Then she says "Sorry, it's just..I think I'm..." she sighs, then continues "Spitfire is coaching the baseball team this year." I'm confused. "Wait, but why would she coach, when we have Coach Ace? And why are you worried about it?" I say in a calm tone. "Well, you know that I sometimes hang out with Spitfire when I can, and last time I was with her she told me a secret. She told me that she...has a crush on you. I don't think she knows that we're together again, and as soon as she told me she said she had to run. And Coach Ace is strictly coaching the soccer team only." I smile at her, than take both of her hands. "Rainbow Dash, I know that you're jealous because I'll be with Spitfire after school if I make it onto the baseball team, but that doesn't change anything. I'm still with you and my heart is always yours. And, if it's any consolation, the school is allowing any students who want to watch tryouts to come and watch." Rainbow smiles at this, kisses my cheek, then pulls me into the lunchroom. Later, tryouts begin. Before they begin, I see Rainbow sitting in the bleachers with a sign that has my cutie mark on it. I smile, however I frown as I glance to the other side of the bleachers, as I see the face of evil and disgust, the face of Soarin. Rainbow sees me frown, then looks to where my eyes are squinting. She frowns, then looks back at me, smiles, then blows me a kiss. I catch it, then hear the clapping of Spitfire's hands. I wave, then walk into the huddle. During tryouts, whenever I glance up at Rainbow, I see Soarin at least an inch closer to Rainbow. Right before the end of our tryout game, I see Soarin literally approaching Rainbow Dash. He then talks to her, and she tries to ignore him, but he keeps trying to talk to her. It's my turn to bat, and I strike out since I'm so distracted. Once tryouts end, I run up to Rainbow Dash. By the time I get up to the bleachers, Soarin is slapping Rainbow full handedly across her face! Now, I know better than to fight fire with fire, so I just run up in front of Dash and took in about 20 slaps before Soarin realises he was slapping me, not Dash. He then then punches me instead of slapping me. Then he says "Why'd you have to get in my way?" I then respond "Because that is no way to treat anyone, especially a woman, especially my woman!" I then hear a magical noise coming from my shirt. (I know that sounds exceptionally weird) and as I look down, I see a light coming from my cutie mark. Once the light fades, I see an entirely new cutie mark! My cutie mark was now a shield with fire inside. "I..what?" I ask, since I'm quite confused. Rainbow beams, and Soarin scowls. Soarin then gets up and leaves and Rainbow throws her hands around my neck. "My hero" she says and she kisses me on the cheek again.
