"Are You Ok?"

After fake Dean had told us this, the real Dean dragged him downstairs to the basement. Sam and John followed him and Bobby and Cas stayed with me.

Remembering that Jason was downstairs, still in the closet, I ran down the stairs and opened the door. Jason sits on the floor, waiting patiently for me to get him. Once the door opened, he stood up, and looked up at me.

"Did you get it?" He asked.

"Yep," I said ruffling his hair.

He smacked my hand away and grinned up at me.

"Did you kick its butt? Did you win the fight and take him down?" He asked, excitement filling his voice.

I didn't like that he was happy about fighting, but there is nothing that I can do about it. I wish that I could have gotten him through his entire life without knowing what lurks in the darkness that thirsts for his death, but its too late and all I can do is smile now at his enthusiasm and keep him safe.

I nodded at his questioned and laughed when he yelled in satisfaction.

"I knew you could do it," Jason told me.

"Thank you," I told him.

He ran off to upstairs and I went into Bobby's study where he and Cas were.

"How do you think Madeline knew that you were here?" Bobby asked me.

I shrugged.

"I don't know, because the moment that I knew that she escaped, I has Cas get us some hex bags," I said. "Remember? I gave you one when you took Jason for a while."

Bobby nodded and opened a drawer on his desk and pulled a small brown fabric bag.

"Its right here," He said.

"Maybe it doesn't work properly for demons," I said. "Jason still is one and so maybe they can't hide them from other demons."

Cas shook his head.

"No, that one is specially made for Jason," Cas explained. "He is hidden from anyone and everything."

"Ok, then I have no idea how she found us," I said, sitting down against a small space of empty wall.

"Are you ok?" Cas asked, sitting down in front of me.

I shrugged.

"I may not know much about about human ways, but I do know that when a woman is upset that I'm suppose to ask if they want to talk about it," He said.

So, an angel understands woman better than normal human beings?  How is this possible?

I shrugged again.

"So, do you want to talk about it?" He asked, eyes wide and innocent looking.

I sighed and hugged my arms around my chest.

"Its just that I feel useless," I said. "I try and try again to keep Jason safe and away from harm and to keep everyone out of harms way especially when the harm is directed towards me. I seem to always fail."

"I don't think I fully understand," Castiel said slowly.

"As you know," I started. "I lost my parents and had to take care of Jason all by myself. I was left alone in a world I knew to much about with a young boy who knew nothing of its terror. I had no idea what to do, so I kept him safe. I made sure he knew how to fight just in case we were ever attacked. I made sure that we didn't leave our home and that there was always food in stomach. I made sure he was always entertained and healthy. I did everything that a parent would have done, but even after that, I still failed because a demon kidnapped him, did Lord knows what to him, he got turned into a demon, and no longer has his home. I failed him, Cas. I did everything right just to have everything turn out wrong." All of this left me in one long breath as all the weight left my shoulders.
