LINA'S POV |

tons and tons of rest, I finally made it back to school in time for the end of our progress reports.

"and are you entirely sure that you are okay? no pains?" nick asked in worry

"yes nick, for the millionth time. I don't want to miss more classes than I already have." I reassure him and he smiles.

"yeah well lucky you that you have me to encourage you to catch up on all your work." nick replies smirking and handing me my lunch.

"and you know I appreciate you so much," I say smiling and pinching his cheek.

he hugs me before I grab my bag and we head toward mission creek high. I meet up with leo at the entrance of the school where we look for and collect our progress reports. we make our way toward bree and adam who are standing next to adam's distinct and very decorated locker. I smile looking at my straight A's thanks to the help of nick.

"lina! I'm thrilled to have you back!" bree says once she sees me and runs over giving me a welcoming hug.

"lina! I missed you!" adam says behind bree as I smile at him and he also gives me a very welcoming hug.

"I missed you guys too! I'm really happy to be back, especially after reading this." I say smiling and holding up my paper.

"I'm not," leo states from behind me, looking down at his paper in disappointment.

"hey leo. what's that?" bree asks curiously looking at our papers.

"it's our progress reports. I can't believe my science teacher says I'm always late to class." leo says looking at his paper in disbelief.

"you are always late to class," adam replies looking at leo in confusion and I nod as well.

"I know that but I don't need it publicized." leo says making me roll my eyes

"look at this!" chase says running in from the cafeteria

"an A minus! I knew my home ec teacher had it out for me! always criticizing my muffins." Chase said clenching his jaw at his progress report.

"haha! I beat you! I got a D plus. plus because I'm better." adam says flexing his paper proudly and smiling as I look at the others with a fake smile.

"adam, the 'plus' is... you know what? it's just not even worth it anymore." bree says giving up halfway through her sentence, I slightly nod with gritted teeth and stand next to her.

"D is not a good grade but we don't really expect you to get good grades," chase says being brutally honest with his brother. Chase's eyes light up a little when he notices me.

"lina! sorry, I didn't even notice, glad to have you back." chase says with a big smile extending his arms out for a hug. I smile back and hug him but the hug was not very long.

"what?!" chase says as he lets go and yanks my paper from my hand.

"you got an A plus for every single class?!" chase says in disbelief and I slowly nod

"but how? I'm engineered to be the smartest person on the planet and lina did better than me?" chase said pointing at me as I look at him offended.

"I've been relegated to the huddled unwashed masses of minuses like you!" chase finishes his argument by insulting every one of us.

"chase, I know this might be hard for you but I mean, look at the bright side. seeing you fall flat on your face is really fun for us!" bree says as chase makes his way to sit down on the bench in the middle of the room followed by us.
