LINA'S POV |

i enter gym class and am met with a big platform in the center of the gymnasium. my eyes widen when the realization hits me that it's that time of the year again. the death spiral. i immedietly turn around to leave but to my despair principal perry stops me in my tracks,

"not so fast, girl morales!"

i sigh in defeat and turn back around to be met with principal perry walking up to me.

"you may have gotten away from this the past years but not this time!" perry exclaims as i step back to make sure she doesn't spit on me while talking.

"but principal perry-" i begin but she puts her finger up to silence me.

"save it morales, there is nothing you can do to convince me.... unless.... you know.... you get your father to-"

"I'LL PARTICIPATE." i interrupt her and walk towards adam and leo as i hear her stomping in anger from behind me.

"ooh, are you in trouble?" adam asks smirking as i shake my head.

"no, just weirded out." i reply before perry grabs all of our attention.

"prepare yourselves, dingoes! it's time for my annual fitness challenge week! this year, forget about push-ups and sit-ups. it's time for bruises, sprains, and freak accidents!" perry gives her lengthy explanation causing me to audibly sigh.

"already got enough of those." i responded under my breath as i kick myself for not staying home today.

"i present, the death. spiral. smackdown!" she finishes by pressing a button on her remote control revealing the covered platform as smoke springs up for dramatic effect.

"well, say what you will about her but she knows how to bring the sizzle." adam says as the spotlight fades away and perry steps on to the platform.

"why do you call it the death spiral? i mean... doesn't look so scary to me." leo asks as i give him a worried glance before perry replies,

"why don't i have vice principal cochran demonstrate for you?"

she forcefully grabs the vice principal by his vest and pulls him onto the platform. i step back behind adam and peek from behind him.

perry starts the spiral and the vice principal immediately loses his balance and falls back. she speeds up the spiral causing him to have difficulty standing up. she laughs as she sees him struggle and increases the speed one final time before he eventually goes flying across the room.

"it's not broken! walk it off!" perry yells at him as leo stares at me with wide eyes.

"that's terrifying." leo states as i nod nervously.

"you think? nick came home with a cut on his lip, a scraped knee and bruises everywhere." i recall remembering having to run to the store to get more gauze pads and bandages. he cringes before i turn around and notice adam is gone and look around to find him approaching perry.

"so how does it work?" adam asks as he stands next to perry on the platform.

"you wrestle your opponents as it spins you silly. it'll test your strength, reflexes, and ability to hold your bladder against centrifugal force!" perry explains laughing as adam gives her a fake smile.

"if you have the guts, partner up and choose carefully. your survival depends on the decision you make, and there are very few good options!" perry finishes by laughing as i see adam stepping off the platform.
