William

I had decided to go to the university a little earlier. Outside it was snowing which also means black ice and the gritting service usually did not come behind with the gritting at that time in the morning.

I had only recently gotten my driver's license and really didn't want to have an accident in my first few months, so I took the time to drive carefully and slowly.

When I had put on my jeans and my white sweater, I went to my parents in the kitchen to have breakfast with them.

I made myself my Caprese bagel and a coffee and sat down at the dining table with them.

''I still can't believe you are going to university now. Time has passed by so fast,'' my mom said as I took a bite of my bagel.

''Mom please. Don't make it awkward,'' I said, rolling my eyes.

''How long is your day today?" my dad asked curiously, taking a sip of his coffee. ''I'll be back home around 2 p.m. at the latest,'' I replied and my dad nodded.

When I had finished eating I wanted to leave even though it was still a bit early, but then I got a call.

When I saw the name on the screen, I immediately accepted.

"Hey Elias," I greeted my best friend, "Hey, what's up?" he greeted me back.

"I was just about to leave, but I actually have some time left. How was your day today?", I asked him.

Elias has decided to spend half a year working and traveling in Australia after school. Due to the time difference, it was already 11 p.m. for him, but since he was employed in a bar in Sydney for this week, he came home rather late anyway.

I thought it was a bit funny that his day ended when mine started but we got along with it and knew when we could talk to each other best.

"It was ok even if the people were a bit exhausting. I'm really tired to be honest, but it was a good experience. '' he told me.

''That's good,'' I said while getting my black puffer jacket out of the closet.

''Do you already know what your day will be like today?", Elias asked while I was putting on my jacket.

''Yes, there will be a welcome speech first. Then I will go to my first lecture to get an idea and then there will be a guided tour through the whole university,'' I told him.
