December 20th. It was my birthday!
My mood was incredibly good when I got up that day. I didn't even have to stretch forever in bed to get on my feet.
Today was the day I came of age.
Full of energy I walked out of my room towards the bathroom. On the way I met Vanessa who came towards me excitedly and hugged me stormily.
''Happy birthday!'', she wished me happily. ''Thank you!'', I said while still hugging her.
''Believe me you will have a great day!", Vanessa promised.
I stood in front of the closet for ages, as usual, to decide what to wear.
In the end, I decided on a beige sweater dress. Its A-line skirt reached slightly above my knees and it had cable knit patterns on the top and lantern sleeves. I put on skin colored thermal tights underneath.
I tied my hair into a high ponytail and pulled out two thin but long strands in front, which I then curled.
After I applied my mascara and some lip balm I was ready.
''You look really great,'' Vanessa complimented me as I came into the living room.
''Thanks so do you.'' Vanessa was wearing light blue skinny jeans and a white knit sweater with a v-neck that she had thoughtfully tucked into the front of her jeans. She left her back-length blonde light curls loose today.
After we had breakfast together we went on the way to university. Today I was allowed to drive the car again.
Today we had a basic course on criminal law from 9 to 11 o'clock but then that's it for the day.
We didn't meet Joe and William at the university on Fridays because they had a lecture from 8 to 10 am themselves.
''Happy Birthday Lauren!'', Serena said as we entered the lecture hall and gave me a hug. ''Thank you,'' I said and we broke away from the hug again.
She also said hello to Vanessa and then we sat down and talked while we waited for our professor.
