Lauren can't wait to start her life as an adult. Together with her best friend Vanessa she moves into a shared apartment in Park Vil, a city known for its very good university PVU.

''Vanessa I need your help,'' I called Vanessa who came directly to my room.
I stood in front of my mirror in my underwear with a dress in my hand and a mountain of clothes on my bed.
''I can already see what's happening here,'' she said and looked at me with amusement. I rolled my eyes.
''You know me. I just don't know what to wear,'' I said.
''Where are you going?" she asked, walking over to my closet to help me find an outfit.
''That's the thing. I don't know. He meant ''surprise,'' ''I said in exasperation.
Vanessa grinned. ''Wow he surprises you when you meet? I don't know but a big sign that he likes you'',
She pulled out a beige crop cable knit sweater and black wide leather pants from the closet.
''I think this should fit. You almost can't go wrong with these,'' she said and handed them to me.
I put them on and stood in front of the mirror again, satisfied. ''This is great. Thank you Vee. I think I'll let my hair down, right?", I asked her afterwards. Vanessa nodded in agreement.
''I'll go on reading my book then if you don't need anything else?" she asked.
''No thanks. I'm good.'', I said and started to do my hair.
I didn't really have to do much except make light waves in it to give it some shape.
After a while the doorbell rang.
''Hey.'' William said smiling as I opened the door for him. ''Hey,'' I greeted him back and couldn't help but smile myself.
When I saw William's outfit I was a little relieved too. With his dark blue hoodie and jeans he was dressed as casual as I was.
We went in together to Vanessa who was sitting on the sofa reading in her gray sweatpants and gray hoodie.
''Hey William.'' she greeted him with a smile. ''Hey. How were your holidays?" he asked.
''They were really nice. Yours?" she asked back. "Same.''
''Joe's not back yet is he?" asked William curiously. Vanessa shook her head. ''He won't be back until tomorrow afternoon,'' she replied. William nodded.
''Where to?'', Vanessa asked with a grin and William grinned the same way. ''Surprise.'', he said and I gave him a light slap on the arm and pulled him to the door. ''I think we have to go.''
