Lauren
I was glad that the day was over for now. I really need time now to process everything that had happened.
One thing that stuck with me was what Vanessa said. What if she was right?
During our last phone call William wanted to explain himself. But I turned him down because I didn't want to hear anymore. With what happened around the accident I felt confirmed in the feeling that our friendship had no future anymore.
I didn't want to find myself in the hurtful situations I had been in the last few months when William was still living in the same town as me and the time he moved away. It had become too much.
I kept trying to talk to him about it but something always came up. Either he was too busy or I didn't have the courage to bring it up. I didn't want to ruin anything.
I never thought about it again after I ended our friendship. What if I made a mistake?
What if he really had a good reason not to answer me? Would things be different now if I had listened to him?
Was it even the main reason why I ended the friendship or was I just looking for a reason and making the problem too big?
The questions hurt my head. Suddenly I had the feeling of wanting to understand him after I pushed him away.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Vanessa coming toward me from the kitchen. She had her jacket on.
''Lulu, I'm going to get some stuff, okay? Do you need anything?" she asked me.
I wondered at first. We had just been shopping yesterday.
''Sure. I can't think of anything I need right now, but I'll text you if I think of anything. Thank you,'' I replied with a puzzled tone.
''Okay, see you later,'' she said goodbye and hurried away.
She was way too excited for someone who was just grocery shopping. I shrugged my shoulders. Whatever.
After a while I heard my phone ringing on the small table in front of the sofa.
It was a video call from my mother. I accepted.
''Hey mom. How are you?", I asked happy about her call.
"Hey honey, I'm doing great. How was your first day?", she asked curiously.
I didn't know at first if I should tell her the full truth but I did.
''It was really good except for the fact that now I'm going to the same university as William,'' I said and grimaced.
