I was on my way to Lauren and Vanessa's apartment. Today was their birthday party, that they kept rather small this time.
Apart from the fact that they hardly knew anyone here in Park Vil anyway, Lauren wasn't comfortable with big parties yet.
When I rang the doorbell and Vanessa opened the door for me. ''Happy Birthday.'', I wished her as I hugged her in greeting and handed her her gift. ''Aw thanks.'' she said as she took the wrapped box in her hand.
I walked into the living room where Joe and Serena were talking and greeted them as well.
''Where is Lauren?", I asked.
''She's in the kitchen making sure everything is in place,'' Serena replied. ''Oh ok thanks,'' I said and went into the kitchen.
I stopped in the doorway and watched as Lauren took plates from the cupboard above her with her back turned to me.
She was wearing a black jumpsuit with wide legs. It was sleeveless with a heart neckline and a cutout on the upper belly. It flattered Lauren's body in a really nice way.
''Hey.'', I said quietly so as not to startle her. She turned her head back with a smile and glanced over her shoulders at me.
''Hey.'', she said and put the plates down on the small table next to her.
I pushed myself off the wall and we walked towards each other to hug and I blew a light kiss on her hair. As we moved our upper bodies slightly away from one another to look at each other, I saw that Lauren had the necklace on.
I took the blue stone between my thumb and forefinger and looked at it.
''You look great,'' I said as we moved a little more away from each other again.
Lauren sheepishly thanked me and returned the compliment.
''Partnered up today?" she then joked, alluding to my outfit.
I had also dressed completely in black with my black pants and black turtleneck sweater.
''Looks like it,'' I replied with a smile and shrugged my shoulders. ''Anything you want me to help you with?", I then asked.
''No, it's all good. I just quickly took out the things already to not have to search for them later.''
I nodded and we went out together to the others.
''I'm just getting more and more optimistic that it could work. The chances are very good that he will come here in the summer,'' I heard Serena say to Vanessa and Joe.
