A Promise-Carl Grimes x reader

Rick wanted Carl and I to stay with the kids, to keep them safe and ourselves safe.

We packed out bags and left, we had everything and Carl had moved our bags, Rick stopped me “I need you to go on a run with Michonne, Daryl, and Bob can you do that for me?” he asked and I nodded grabbed my bag from under the bed.

“Rick told me you needed a fourth?” I asked and Michonne laughed “Rick wanted me to go on Med runs alone, but I guess I’m going with you three” I shrugged and they nodded.

Everything was going smooth until we found a hoard, we had to leave Ty behind as we kept running.

Ty caught up with us and we kept running.

“Carl would kill me if he saw what just happened” I laughed and Michonne joined me “Ty let’s go!” Daryl yelled and I looked at Michonne.

We had been moving for at least an hour things were going good.

We made it to a gas station of sorts and  found a car that needed a battery.

Walkers came out of the store and we killed the ones that came and worked on getting through the overgrown vines and bushes.

We got in and I found a battery “it needs a little distilled water, other than that it fits our car” I shrugged and left the two to find what we needed.

“Grimes, this is Y/n you there?” I called for Rick and he answered back “we had a little setback, had to get another car but we found one and  battery for it” I assured, “good to know, I’ll see if I can get a hold of Maggie, relay the message” he told and I nodded signing off.

Daryl ordered me to try the engine and I tried, I gave it gas and it started “I did it!” I cheered and Daryl pushed my head “you still haven’t gotten to drive, I’ll ride shotgun, make sure you don’t kill us” he smiled and I nodded.

I pulled out slow and sped up “don’t go to fast, it’s a lot easier teaching you to drive in a parking lot, or on a farm” he smiled at me and I flashed him one back.

Soon enough we made it to the town and I drove the whole way.

We made it to the building we wanted and we went slow around corners but immediately moved to clear and get medicine.

Daryl told me to stay by the door, watch the door and windows, don’t let us get trapped.

I heard the group starting to run back and I went out to the car to wait.

The hell is taking so long, they were just behind me, I heard cages rattle.

I heard a window break and the group made it back and the mood was low.

Everyone got in and I started the car “let’s go save our family” I said and followed the map I was provided.

Daryl offered to drive and I shook my head “it’s better to focus on the road then back home” I huffed and sped up.

My mind was on Carl and Judith as we made it back to the prison that night.

Carl opened the main gate and Rick opened the second one, Ty and I both jumped out Rick was shocked to see me driving but he was happy I was ok.

“Is Carl ok, Judith, Glenn are they alive?” I asked frantic and I was hugged by Carl “is Glenn ok?” I asked and Carl shrugged “he caught the flu, he’s inside now” Carl couldn’t stopped me as I ran as fast and I could to the doors.

I got inside and ran upstairs to see Glenn on the floor I started to cry when Maggie noticed me “he’s ok, hell be ok thanks to you” she had been crying too “he made it to the last stage, needs help breathing but by tomorrow he’ll be ok” I nodded and sat on the floor, I kissed his head an he gave me a sly fist bump.

The next morning

I didn’t sleep at all last night but I still had stuff to do, I left Glenn after he started to breathe on his own and I showered, changed my clothes and caught up with the Rick and Carl.

“he’s breathing on his own, he’ll live” I smiled hugging Carl “I showered and completely disinfected, I promise” I smiled and Rick hugged me.

“I saw you driving last night, you did pretty damn good, Daryl told me you drove the whole way?” Rick asked and I nodded “I learned to drive!” I cheered and Carl laughed as we all walked up to the prison.
