Two messengers from hilltop delivered the message that Rosita was pretty bad off and she was at hilltop. We got over there as quickly as we could, Carl basically covering me “look at this, a family reunion” Tara huffed and I stepped out from behind everyone “Y/n?” Enid questioned and I hurried to hug her “your alive!” she exclaimed and I laughed “hey kid” Tara smiled and I punched her arm “gross” I huffed hugging her.

“Y/n? You’ve grown so much!” Carol smiled hugging me tightly “wait till Daryl sees you” she smiled and I looked down, “we’re just here to see Rosita, make sure she’s ok, I’m not staying long” I huffed and Carl put his hand on my shoulder “two days, that’s our limit” he huffed and I looked at him

“no”

“yes”

“no!”

“yes! Stop acting like you don’t know these people!” Carl begged and I huffed “this is embarrassing, but I’ll stay, for two days” I crossed my arms over my chest and he smiled “thank you” he smiled and I nodded.

Night.

I couldn’t sleep, there were a million things running through my mind “I can hear your brain thinking” Carl huffed and I looked at him “I’ve always been like this, I hate it” I huffed turning over to lay closer to him.

“we could always go help my mom, and Rosita” he suggested and I nodded hurrying to get ready. We all left and quickly found them they were stuck in a graveyard, I got climbed over to help deal with the heard while everyone else tackled the gate being stuck.

“Get everyone out, we got this” I nodded to Jesus and he smiled “good to see you again by the way” he laughed and the next seconds went in slow motion. We both kicked one back and took it down Aaron yelled for us to move and we did, we moved to the gate so close to getting out, two more were left, Jesus got one and I moved to the other it ducked under my blow and before it could hit me Jesus moved me out of the way allowing himself to get stabbed instead.

“You are where you do not belong” it whispered and suddenly more came running, I turned in just enough time to see one with a knife before it was shot. Everyone ran in to help and I saw Daryl, tears later, fighting now.

We killed what was left and kept high guard, the whispering started again and I heard a dog barking. “You die now” a man whispered before Carl pulled me out.

We made it back to our horses by morning and we were on the move, we stopped and found one of them, then started again.

“It’s good to see you again, after six years” Daryl said and I nodded before speeding up.
When we all made it back the mood was low and I was exhausted on the verge of tears. Tara was first to walk up to his body and I grabbed the hostage and brought her to the lower cells.

Tara and Michonne interrogated her while Daryl took me out. “I’m not ignoring you, it’s just this wasn’t how I expected to see you again” I huffed and he smiled, he wrapped his arm around my shoulder “not how I expected to see you either but, you need a haircut and I have a surprise for you” he smiled and I laughed.

After the hair cut I put my hair back on, he brought it back to my shoulders and I felt a weight be lifted “now for your surprise” he whistled and I heard running and panting “you have a dog?” I asked and he smiled “his name is dog” he told me and I looked over at him “creative” I laughed hugging the dog again.

“Your two days is almost up, I’m cutting your time” Carl smiled and I got up dusting my ass off “thank you, I’ll catch you later dad” I smiled and he whistled causing me to turn “be safe kid, not stupid” he warned and I nodded grabbing my bag and heading back around to the horses.
The last thing we did was attended his funeral, then I left, on the way to the horses I bumped into Henry “hey little guy” I joked and Henry smiled “it’s been a while huh?” he asked and I nodded “you’ve grown so much, I remember when you were tiny” I smiled with a small laugh and he rolled his eyes “I remember that day on the bridge by the way, thank you, also I never thought you were a monster for what you had to do” he assured and went back to the funeral I smiled and joined Michonne to the way back.

Carl sat beside you and looked over at you “you seem off?” he asked and you shrugged “it’s just been a while since something like that has happened” I pulled my knees to my chest and huffed.

Back at Alexandria.

I laid down on my bed and I looked over at Carl “I miss when things were simpler, when it was just the camp, when I had a family” I turned my back on him and brought my knees up “I miss Glenn, Beth, and Lori” I started to cry and the bed sunk to another weight and I felt a hand rest on my arm “I miss them too, and I’m sorry we had to lose them but without their loss we wouldn’t be here today” he assured and I shook my head ignoring him.

The next day

We got up bright and early to get ready for the fair, by the time the sun rose we were ready to head out. I debated going to the cell but I passed on it, we also decided on letting a few go to the fair, most of us staying.

I was looking for Judith, she was missing and she wasn’t by the cells “Judith! You can’t just wonder away like that” I scolded once I found her and she frowned “but I’m with Daryl, I’m safe!” she cheered and I huffed “can I talk to Daryl for just a bit?” I asked and she nodded leaving.

“How do you fight the urge to go back out there?” I asked and he shrugged “you have Carl, Judith, and RJ to keep you here, I have to watch Henry, you just put trust in the thing that’s giving you a reason to stay”
