We were prepping for war, Carl and I had decided to stay back at Alexandria, I had to he just wanted to keep me company.

"You don't have to stay here with me, I'm just practicing my stabbing, go adventure" I smiled and he laughed "I'm sure nobody will mind if you go on one run with me" he laughed and I smiled getting in the van with him.

Thankful I didn't need crutches anymore, and stitches were almost ready to come out, we made a stop and we both got out, he grabbed a gas can and I grabbed my gun.

"I'll look around, don't get yourself into too much trouble cowboy" I smiled and decided to check the perimeter of the building when a guy said something and we both raised our guns. He started to ramble nonsense and I started to walk forward with Carl, I grabbed Carl's hat and went to run with him.

We found the guy and I stood at one side throwing Carl his hat keeping my gun raised. Rick came and started to shoot, I went after him while the other two argued "Y/n, let's get going!" Carl yelled and I turned around.

We got back to Alexandria, I saw all the cars ready to go and I put my hair up, and put the hat Maggie got me back on, "hey cowgirl, I bet your upset you had to miss the fun" Carl wrapped his arms around my waist and I smiled "I'm so upset, I might just cry" I smiled getting in the van.

We went to the gas station and left some food and a note, then we left. We got back before Rick and decided to chill out.

Days past, literally days.

Carl and I let the days past, we trained, spared, read, and watched Judith. "we should make those little paint hand prints, I have some blue paint if you want to" I smiled and he shrugged "we have our lives ahead of us, now go get Jude to bed so we can train" he smiled and I picked a very sleepy Judith up carrying her to sleep.

An hour later

"Your moves are getting predictable" I smiled and Carl groaned from his spot on the floor, I helped him up and we got back in position.

He went to throw a punch and I just barely got out of the way, while his back was turned I hit the back of his knee and he fell in the grass, while I was laughing he pulled the back of my leg and I fell.

He hurried to get on top of me and pin me down. "Still predictable?" he asked and I smiled "very" I whispered hitting his arm and flipping us so I was on top "I win" I whispered and he laughed.

A day later

Carl and I found the guy and approached him cautiously "I'm Carl, this is Y/n" he pointed at both of us and I smiled "siddiq" the man said and I smiled "we brought you food and water" Carl put the bag forward and he kept me back behind him.

He threw the food forward and I smiled "thanks" he nodded and I smiled "we're glad we found you, I'm going to ask you some questions, answer honestly" Carl said and I kept watch.

After Carl asked the question I made my way back "you got to honor your parents you know?" Siddiq said and I laughed "I choose to honor my mom, my dad is a dick" I smiled and Carl laughed.

We started walking him back, my hand in Carl's "so are the two of you, you know?" Siddiq asked and I laughed "nope, just a pair of best friends trying to survive this world, almost 18 years?" I questioned and Carl nodded.

We heard walkers in the distance and ducked behind a tree, they were eating a deer, three of them. Carl and I moved forward, for siddiq's mom, to release their souls, we got their attention and the three of us got the initial three down, three more came.
