Ken's POV
I nervously tapped my foot while waiting on the beautifully powdered, white sand. Hailey felt my unease and sent a wave of calmness through me. I felt a shift in the air before powerful auras surged around me. 8 angels darted out the sky and dropped to the ground. When the sandy dust cleared, the angels were in position. They clutched their weapons while on high alert.
"Guess it's go time." I mumbled.
"The area is secure. She'll be here shortly." Hailey walked off.
"Where are you going? I want you to stay."
"I appreciate it, but I think this should be a private conversation." She gently smiled and continued down the beautiful beach.
I looked up to see 4 angels surrounding mom as she majestically descended. Well, there's no turning back now. Mom's bare feet made contact with the soft sand. The other guards formed a square around her as she approached me. I really didn't want to have this conversation in front of everyone.
"Can we go somewhere private?"
"Your majesty, we must be close by." The lead angel addressed her.
"Be ready to flash to me, but I do not want to feel any auras less than a mile away."
"But, Ajax-"
"Are you questioning my instructions?" She arched a brow.
"No, your majesty." He then faced the others. "In the air." He pointed at a group. "The rest on land with me. Spread out." They nodded and flashed away.
"I've always loved Greece." She commented.
"I know." I softly smiled. "I asked Hailey to find a beautiful beach."
"Why a beach?" She walked in the direction of the shipwreck.
"Because that's where you and dad met. Granted, it wasn't here, but still." I wrapped my arms around myself. "It's also a cove and provides more privacy." I looked up and saw some angels situated atop the mountain.
"They can only be so far away."
"At least they provided some distance." I breathed out as the wind flowed around us. "Can they hear?"
"They're more preoccupied with potential threats than our private conversation." She answered as we stopped on the shore.
"I need to speak to you about something very serious, but I'm stalling because I really don't want it." I stared at the waves.
"Why?"
"I'm scared."
"Of how I will react?"
"Of the reality behind this." I looked down.
"Should we speak about something else until you calm your fears?"
"You don't have the time."
"Says who?"
"You're the Queen. You're busy. That's why I don't understand how you're here at my beck and call."
"I'm your mother. I'll always have time for you." She clarified. "I can miss a day's work for the benefit of my child."
"Mom, it's been a while since we've talked and haven't argued." The wind whipped my hair around.
"I've missed it." She softly smiled. "You know not being in your life during your formative years always killed me. I couldn't watch you grow up. I couldn't even picture your looks. I was so far removed." She looked off. "I was able to experience your growth vicariously through Yuna." My head snapped towards her. "She'd give weekly reports directly to me. Would detail everyday to the minute detail like if you sneezed that day." She bitterly laughed. "She described your physical attributes to the point that I could picture my daughter's visage. I knew your likes and dislikes. First kiss, date, boyfriend... who Yuna and i detested and I never met him." I laughed at that.
