Zena's POV

Maman appeared pissed as the five of us wandered off. We went to a private room where Yeira dismissed Damyan. Damyan went to complain, but Ulyana reminded him of his positing compared to Yeira's. On his way out, Yeira directed him to send Iris here. He grumbled while I wondered who Iris was.

"We hate it here." Yeira stated.

"I'm not surprised." Ulyana spoke. "The only one who hated leaving this realm was Vanya."

"I didn't like the logistics and reason for it." Vanya had a pretty accent. "It was to aid in your grandfather's plan."

"You both are really pretty." I smiled and watched them blush. "Sorry. It's just you have sharp features and... I'll stop talking now."

"Acacia will def hear about this." Yeira smirked at my panicked face.

"What will the competition be?" Ulyana wondered.

"That's to be determined. I wanted to speak privately because we hoped one of you would know."

"We unfortunately do not. This is unprecedented." Ulyana stated.

"You performed the dance well." Vanya stared at me.

"Thanks."

"I assume that was your first time dancing." I tilted my head. "You weren't raised a traditional vampire like Yeira." She glanced my sister's way.

"I didn't know we could speak English here because I got in trouble not speaking French." I grumbled.

"Father hates the council members, so he does anything to vex them. He should've approached you in French. And since he's the patriarch, we're to follow his lead. Therefore, we will continue communicating to you in English." Ulyana stated.

"Même si je parle en français?" Yeira smirked.

"We'll answer back in English."

I sensed another person, so I turned and spotted the dark skinned girl. She seemed hesitant until Yeira waved her over. She gulped and slowly approached us. I watched her stand behind Vanya. I arched a brow and faced Yeira who nodded. Ahh! She's Vanya's partner!

"It's not publicized." Vanya answered my unasked question.

"That's why she couldn't address us with the others." I concluded, causing her to nod. "I'm sorry."

"Isn't that the same with you?" Ulyana questioned. "You both have mates, am I wrong?"

"You know about that."

"Yeira told us a lot." Vanya confirmed.

"How are you, darling?" Yeira smiled at Iris.

"Hi, yei." Iris waved.

"No need to be afraid. My sister is more of a golden retriever."

"Hey!" I shoved her.

"And aggressive too?" She gave Iris a scared look.

"Which other leaders do you know?" Ulyana asked.

"I just met you two." I answered.

"We've only met Florian. Not his parents or sister."

"His father is stiff, mother is mischievous, and sister is kind." Ulyana spoke.

"Mischievous how?" I nervously asked.

"She finds humor in irritating her husband."

"Like mum." Yeira and I spoke.

"They're mates."
