Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched.
From the moment she told Harry she would see him on Monday when he got back, she couldn't help but feel like there was something watching her. And it wasn't one of those light airy feelings that has you thinking that maybe guardian angels are real. It was dark and it loomed over her, it was the type of feeling that had you avoiding dark alleyways or streets with no lamps. She felt deep anxiety in her chest because of it and she absolutely hated it. She felt like she was in danger.
She felt that way until she stepped into work at eleven, being greeted by Mitch throwing her a wave and a smile.
Then suddenly she was fine, a heavy weight being dropped off her chest and feeling a lot safer in the small building.
"Good morning," Mitch says, leaning on the counter to talk to her, "Thought you were Harry for a second," He says, his eyebrows furrowed and a clear hint of surprise in his voice, "Why?" She asks confusedly,
"I-uh, I don't know, must just be one of those days," He shrugs, smiling to reassure her, "Okay," Y/N says slowly still not very convinced, "Harry's gone to Italy for a few days so he-" Y/N starts, "What?!" Mitch interrupts quickly.
"Why are you acting so weird today?" Y/N says with a small smile, "How do you know?" He asks, "Because I moved in with him..?" Y/N trails off like it's something Mitch should know.
"You what?!" He nearly yells in surprise, "Calm down Jesus Christ!" Y/N says, "Sorry, sorry, shit, Harry has got a lot of explaining to do," Mitch says with wide eyes, shaking his head in disbelief as he goes into the back office.
Y/N doesn't understand why that's so insane to him but she supposes Mitch and Harry are old friends and that's something you'd expect your friend to tell you.
Y/N gets on with her work as normal, checking people out, making drinks and keeping the book shelves tidy.
It's when the shop closes for lunch that she starts to feel weird again, Mitch left to go home and have lunch with his wife while Y/N stayed in the shop, opting to eat the lunch Harry made for her and watch the videos her professor recommended for studying.
However she starts to feel the same weird feeling from this morning, like something was watching her, it's not as intense but it's still there and still makes her feel uneasy.
She still tries to ignore it though.
She opens her lunch to see a hand written note from Harry that makes her chest tighten. He had to be the sweetest person around.
Have a good lunch! I'm sure you are doing great today.
P.S. Eat the vegetables.
-H.
It was so small and simple but was so goddamn sweet.
She sees that he's packed her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cut into triangles (she found that adorable), which automatically makes her day better, she'd briefly mentioned in passing that those were her favorite.
He also packed her an apple, a granola bar and of course a small pot of stupid vegetables. She swears the man was trying to turn her into a rabbit.
She eats her lunch in peace, still not being able to get rid of the weird feeling but she can ignore it enough that it's not at the forefront of her mind.
It's when she gets back home that she starts to freak out.
The feeling is stronger than it's ever been and she swears she starts hearing things, taps on the windows, creaks in the floorboards, almost silent whispers of her name.
