At the start of Y/N and Harry's relationship, Harry often did things that were somewhat insensitive toward Y/N without really realising it.

It wasn't that he wanted to hurt her feelings or like that was his goal, Harry was just sort of sarcastic and blunt. It was in his job description to be an asshole, he was a wanted criminal for God's sake, he didn't really truly know how to treat a significant other because he'd never really had one he'd cared about.

It was harder with Y/N too, because she was soft and sensitive and got upset a little easier than most. She didn't really pick up on sarcasm all the time and sometimes she'd think he was being straight up mean to her because he said things in a dry sort of tone when he was being sarcastic and not in a very obvious jokey sort of way.

Harry didn't really realise how much it affected her until one day a few things had built up and she'd broken down.

Y/N wasn't the best baker in the world, she knew that but she liked trying regardless. Sometimes her stuff failed and sometimes it just looked downright ugly.

But she wants to do a nice gesture for Harry. He'd been so sweet to her over the past few weeks, taking her on dates and treating her so well, she wanted to return the gesture in a way she could afford to.

She'd spent her last few dollars on ingredients so she'd be pretty much broke until Friday when she got paid again, it was only three days away sure but it meant having to skip her little treats she was really fond of and she had to pull out of lunch with her friend the next day cause she wouldn't have any money to go out to eat.

She took all the ingredients to her flat and tried her very best attempt at making cookies she found on Pinterest, they were shortbread and had little hearts in the centre with jam inside, she thought they looked awfully cute and Harry liked cookies you could buy in stores that were pretty similar.

They weren't the best looking in the entire world when they were done but they weren't all that bad, she was really proud of herself because it wasn't a complete fail. And they didn't taste completely awful either.

She was so excited about it that she started getting ready earlier to go to Harry's just so she could show him what she'd made him.

When she got to his house she knocked on the door, a proud smile on her face and holding the cookies in a ziplock bag behind her back so he wouldn't see them straight away.

When he opens the door, he seems surprised to see her, "Hey? What are you doing here?" He asks, "I thought I'd come by a little earlier, I've got a surprise for you!" She grins and Harry smiles back, stepping aside to let her in.
