Just a quick trigger warning, there's mentions of abuse in this and so if that's a trigger for you then I'd recommend that you don't read this one! Put yourself first and take care of you and your own needs.

I hope you enjoy :)

...

Y/N didn't like conflict.

It was probably her least favourite thing in the entire world. Mainly because she's had to deal with it for her whole life.

However, she was dating the most sought after guy at school. Who loved to find himself in the middle of conflict.

Harry was the future alpha of their pack, one of the strongest guys at school and liked to prove it by arguing with anyone who so much as looked at him.

He had a massive thing for Y/N, he believed they were mates and Y/N didn't believe it until she actually started dating him. But even before then he was always protective of her.

If anyone so much as breathed too close to her Harry would have something to say about it. It was exhausting because she didn't like when he fought. It just made her uncomfortable and even a little scared at times.

Though Harry didn't know exactly why, nobody did because Y/N was good at hiding things.

Her dad was an asshole, to say the very least, he got mad and he took his anger out on her. Y/N was good with makeup and so it was easy to hide bruises she'd have.

Her mum was more of a fan of emotional torment rather than physical, that hurt more sometimes. But it was easy to hide that with a smile and a simple "I'm okay!" because that's what people wanted to hear.

It's harder to hide things from Harry. It always had been, he was a nosy motherfucker and Y/N didn't have a lot of makeup as a kid. He was always asking about bruises she'd have or why she was crying in the park.

Sometimes she'd say her parents weren't nice. Which is a kid's way of putting it. Most of the time she'd just say she fell and hurt herself to explain both of those things.

But as she got older it was harder to explain things, so she covered them. Bruises she covered with makeup and she just kept her tears until she was alone.

Harry was good at seeing through her, though he didn't push. Even when he probably should have because Y/N needed someone to talk to, but he didn't know what was bothering her and he figured she'd tell him when she was ready.

However, having violence and yelling be a massive trigger and your boyfriend be a huge fighter didn't really work well together.

And using makeup to cover bruises got hard in the summer time when water was everywhere and everyone wanted to be near it.

She'd already made excuses for the last three pool days her friend group was having and so when the fourth one came along everyone was practically forcing her to go and she couldn't think of an excuse quick enough.

They were held at Harry's house because his was the biggest and he had an outdoor pool, plus his parents were pretty chill and didn't mind so long as the place wasn't a mess, which everyone was surprised by because they're the current leaders of the pack.

Y/N really couldn't think of a worse way to spend the day. First of all she had to wear a swimming suit, which didn't work well with the bruises and scars. Or her insecurities. Her mother had been telling her her whole life that she's fat and ugly and if someone says that to you enough you start to believe it.

The next thing was the water- if she was covering bruises and scars then she'd have to avoid the water because it would wash the makeup off, which wasn't very easy to do at a pool party.
