King!harry x Princess!y/n
________________________________________________

Harry leaves the items outside Y/N's door for her, just in the odd chance she may go looking for them.

Then he's heading to the kitchen to find out why on earth she was crying.

Harry didn't find himself in the kitchen very often at all, he was always so busy, and he didn't have any need to be in the kitchen.

He doesn't know why he even cares that Y/N was crying if he's honest, she's been nothing but rude and off putting in the two days she's been here, so why is he worried about her?

He just found her behaviour odd, why was the Princess of the second wealthiest country in the world sneaking apples and water to her room? Fawning over bread like a prisoner? Why did she think she couldn't leave the palace? He doesn't understand.

"Margaret can I talk with you?" Harry says, striding into the kitchen carelessly and startling everyone in there that was preparing dinner, all of them dropping what they're doing to bow down to him.

"Of course your majesty." Margaret nods quickly, putting down the stack of plates she was holding and walking towards Harry, Margaret was the kitchen head, hence why he decides she would be the best person to ask.

He's holding the door open for her which feels wrong, as though it should be the other way about but Margaret doesn't comment on it, simply stopping outside the kitchen to see what he wanted.

"Has Princess Y/N been in the kitchen recently?" Harry asks and Margaret nods, "Yes, your majesty, just a few minutes ago," She tells him, knowing what this was about now.

"And was she crying when she left you?" Harry asks again, "Yes, she was your majesty," Margaret nods, a little hesitant now.

"And what would the reason for her troubles be?" Harry sighs, "I am unsure it's my place, your majesty," Margaret says truthfully.

"I can understand that. However I have the Princesses best interest at heart and I'd like to understand what's wrong," Harry sighs, "May I speak freely, your majesty?" Margaret asks and Harry nods.

"If you'd like to understand her then I'd suggest talking to her, I do not wish to get involved in any bad blood with her," Margaret says truthfully and Harry nods, "I can accept that Margaret. Thank you for speaking to me, you may return to your work," Harry sighs, Margaret bows before turning back into the kitchen and Harry is thinking about nothing other than what an absolute waste of time that was.

Y/N didn't want to talk to him, and Margaret would rather not tell him, and while he could make her he would like to respect her wishes.

And then Harry spots two servants gossiping to each other down the hall, and he knows he'll get some answers there.

He approaches them, panic clearly on both of their faces as they bow quickly, "Your majesty, how can we assist you?" One of them say quickly, "What has upset Princess Y/N?" Harry asks, "Oh, supposedly she was trying to take food up to her chambers, your majesty. Instead of eating at the table. I think Richard scolded her or something, we couldn't really hear exactly everything that was said," One explains, "Thank you," Harry sighs, walking back towards the kitchen.

He knows it's not considered 'proper' for Y/N to be skipping dinner or trying to bring food to her room but it's not illegal.

And Harry did want Y/N to feel at home here.

Her parents had told him that Y/N wanted this marriage, he'd asked to speak to her before signing anything multiple times but was always told she was busy and that he shouldn't worry because she wanted this.
