Still confined in the Russian Geneticop facility, Alice's only reliability was a Geneitcorp guard turned good that was accordingly helping her escape, but as her sister found herself to be a distraction she decided to go on the opposite way, and Alice knew that Missy was smart enough to figure out a way on her own. Simon, the entrusted guard helped Alice disguise herself with an emergency lab suit that covered her entire body except for her face, so she simply used a face mask and a hairnet to cover her most recognizable features, she had never felt so much adrenaline in her veins before, maybe because she was alone.
"I feel like a celebrity." Alice told the guard as he carried her around the tricky tunnels of the facility, "Walking around like this."
Simon looked back at her and shushed, "Keep your voice down, they still have ears and you're still a teenage girl."
"Okay, fine." Unamused by his lack of sense of humor and rolled her eyes back. Simon then took a peak outside through the window, "Good news we're approaching the loading dock, but we still have to go past those guards and a few more doors."
"Should be easy, we haven't been caught yet." Alice shrugged it off, feeling as if this wasn't as concerning.
Simon and Alice walked past a few scientists greeting them naturally, everything was going on just fine so far since the task wasn't that hard for them, but things were about to change. They stopped by an entrance as they observed Orville storming out of the office room and heading toward the service tunnels, this was a relief for them but they didn't realize that could be bad for Missy and her single journey.
Now as they had a little bit more liberty they continued walking down to the very exit that led to the staircase to the loading dock, Simon grabbed his keycard and swiped it on the pad, however, it did not work as he had expected.
"What's going on?" Confused, Alice began to question what Simon's privileges truly were.
Simon stammered nervously swiping it against the pad numerous times, "I don't understand, it should've worked, but it's not."
Aguta threateningly chewed on a carrot behind them, "You do not have that level of security in your system, kid."
"Oh shit." Alice cursed out, "It's the guy."
"Yes." Aguta let out a blasphemous laugh, "I am the guy.'
Simon hurriedly pulled Alice into the opposite service tunnel and locked the door from the inside, he also laid a shelf against the door just in case he managed to open it, luckily that would slow him down. On the other side of the door, Aguta began to punch it, "Open it now, you have nowhere to go."
The two began to run across the maintenance tunnels as fast as possible with Alice curious about his choices, "I don't get it, where are we going?"
"This isn't the best choice but it still leads to the docks." Simon stopped by a control panel and a circular trap door on the floor, "If we move fast enough we might just be able to avoid them."
"Avoid what?" Alice asked, just as realization kicked in, "I thought we wouldn't have to deal with dinosaurs."
Simon sighed as he began to insert a certain password into the panel and the hand crank span on its own, "Look that's what I hoped for as well, but this is the aquatic section of the enclosures, built to simulate theme park attractions."
"They were considering building a park." Alice's jaw dropped to that reveal she was never expecting that.
"I know." Simon easily understood her reaction but he also knew they had to leave so he was climbing down the ladder that led to the enclosure, "But you have to understand this was never a thing for a reason."
Finally arriving downstairs it appeared to be somewhat of the entrance of a ride, there was a large sign saying "Aquatic Journey.", with sounds of crickets, frogs, and fireflies coming from speakers scattered around the large structure. Alice looked around impressed by the quality and detail, "This feels like an actual swamp it's so hot and humid."
"It's perfect for the animals." He responded as he handed her a themed life jacket, "The ride is dysfunctional, if it chokes we'll have to go by foot."
"Perfectly fine." She responded while putting the vest on and dumping her scientist disguise into the mossy water. Simon then hopped into the log fume Esque wagon, with Alice carefully going in foot by foot. The boat began to travel on its own with the seatbelt not working accordingly to the protocol they seemed to be either safe or completely helpless.
In the beginning, not many animals appeared to be involved until they got to an area with a higher portion of land, where some Moeritherium was bathing on the water and a mother feeding its juvenile some berries. Alice observed the animals with caution but she was still dazzled by their presence, one of which even used its short trunk to sprinkle water above them, similar to a modern-day elephant. But as soon as they left the herbivore section the environment got gloomy, the last sight Alice could catch of the Moeritherium was its tail flickering flys.
Simon tapped Alice's shoulder which caused her to flinch and gasp a little, she questions his action and shrugs furrowing her eyebrows, he simply responds with a finger on his mouth, warning her about the danger of the territory they were about to get into. Suddenly a crocodilian-like creature sprouts out of the water and stalks the boat ride, not much later other specimens began to reveal themselves, hissing at the humans. It was a Hyposaurus-infested swamp, regularly fed with large birds. One of the largest individuals lunged at the boat in between the two humans, causing Alice and Simon to scream, both went to the sides and way too close to the water. Eventually, the animal slippers back into the water and others attempt to get their meal by biting their arms off, luckily they head back into the boat in time.
Only to make the situation even more compelling, Aguta had managed to reach them by foot, shooting a bullet into the air. The ride began to ascent and that would occasionally lead them to drop, Aguta screamed at them, "Stop that boat or things will get ugly."
There was absolutely nothing Simon and Alice could do to stop the boat, Aguta groaned as he attempted to get closer to the water but the startled Hyposaurus were still craving a meal. Aguta shot at the crocodilians which only caused them to attack him, suddenly the larger reptile lunged at Aguta and snapped his neck in half, and the other members of the grip began to rip him limb to limb until there was nothing but a carcass.
The climbing was coming to an end and the drop was nearing. Terrified, both of them gripped the seatbelts with their strength. The view wasn't realistic the sky was colored blue to resemble a tropical location and the landing spot was supposed to be the ocean, something was off, every single boat cart crashed on the same spot and the track appeared to be broken. As soon as it came it ended, the drop occurred and their boat crashed onto the file of carts that most likely suffered the same fate.
Alice quickly stood up and tried to remain steady on the boat, "What happens now?"
"We have to climb through these boats." Simon attempted to explain as he cautiously observed the waters, "The exit is right over there."
Not shockingly enough an enormous Itchyosaurus jumped from side to side on the boat pile, the humans decided to move as fast as possible when they saw the marine reptile. The dolphin-like animals gathered around the new cart and began to completely shatter it with their powerful yet thin jaws. Luckily for them, Simon leaped to the floor as he waited for Alice to do the same. Alice gets her foot stuck on a seat and one of the Itchyosaurus swims toward her direction, she manages to pull her foot out, sadly losing her boot, and jumps just in time as the Itchyosaurus attempted to snatch her into the water.
The humans sprint out of the building and board the cargo plane seconds before it departs, contemplating the short yet exhausting journey they had until now, the screams of the man chasing them would terrify them for life, but all Alice could think about was her sister.
