The sun was setting in Africa now, the expedition was about to get serious so the group decided to pick up the pace after one of their members had already met their fate and passed. They couldn't no risk any other deaths on that island so they just followed the original path through the stone forest to get to the bay and their last stop, but now they couldn't be as sure since the Terror Birds and the Pachyrhinosaurus had moved from their common territory to another. However things weren't as concerning before all they had to take care of was the large feline, but with the absence of prey in its territory, it's likely that it moved.
Following the long and exhausting walk the group reaches the bay of the island, Yvelisse instantly recognizes the place where she and her unusual allies had escaped an attack from two wild Elasmosauruses. The girl bowed down to find some claw markings on the bark of a Baobab tree, "We're in the right place, if we follow down that road we will reach the Pterosaur nest, and then eventually we might come across the Utahraptor."
"Good to know." Madden then strutted over to the edge of the lagoon, "Let's send the drone down there, I want to get some good shot of Nessie and her boyfriend."
Susan, still upset by her colleague's death, had no choice other than to follow her commander's rules. Susan stood by the edge dropping the waterproof drone into the water. The drone dived in moving around quietly, it came across a shoal of fish and some interesting kelp. But what really caught their attention was the variety of shells that did not belong to this environment and even some corals, they were all prehistoric artifacts implemented into the scenery years ago, luckily the drone caught some shots of this as one of the Elasmosaurus swam down to the bottom searching for food and sensing an invader.
Suddenly an enormous Moganpopterus landed on a boulder by the shore, as it also fed on a much smaller specimen, an Anurognathus. Waden prepared to capture the moment on camera when suddenly the second Elasmosaurus jumped out from the water and dragged the pterosaur to drown. Somehow he had managed to capture the exact moment the marine reptile had snatched the pterosaur into the water. Meanwhile, Susan still got beautiful shots of nature down there along with the couple feeding on the pterosaur and later showing affection by rubbing their necks, it was also revealed they had a nest down there.
Assuming the footage they got of this section was enough, they decided to head deeper into the island once again. Smaller flocks of Agnaurognathus flew above their heads, camouflaging themselves in the trees from other predators such as the Cearadactyls that very much preferred the sky, gazing over the humans with no intentions of attacking. Waden was impressed by how his own work was good, playing smart to impress the others, "Guys, I managed to fetch the exact moment she brought him down."
"Very good, Waden." Yvelisse enthusiastically replied with a monotone intention to help him realize he was making a fool of himself this way, "As far as I concern there are no apex predators on this island, only smaller but deadly ones."
"Point is?" Madden protested, finally showing off his true colors after such a long time together.
Yvelisse turned her head to him signaling to keep his voice down, "This is the part where you die if you don't watch your guard."
He rolled his eyes in response simply following the road. As they continued, they walk past the ranger outpost, a place that does not give Yvelisse very bright memories, she stops for a moment letting the group go. The scene of her friend's death is repeated in nightmares often, but all she can do is keep his memory alive and go on with her alive, following her ancestor's mindset and overall beliefs.
When they're getting closer to the warehouse, noises begin to flourish from the foliage in their surroundings. Yvelisse once again recognizes this place, "This is how I got out of the island."
"Me too." Waden remarked, "But that wasn't something I knew at the time."
"What should we expect to find here?" Madden asked obnoxiously, sitting on a rock.
To his surprise a smaller creature jumped out from the bushes, it was a juvenile Utahraptor. Madden fell down from the rock and crawled a few steps back, the juvenile turned its head curiously. The animal let out a soft squeak jumping toward Madden, presumably searching for some food, Madden reaches for a chocolate bar on his chocolate, giving the Utahraptor a small piece of the aliment, Susan attempted to take a picture of the moment, but unfortunately, she commits the same error as her friends and scares the creature off.
"God dammit, Susan." Madden threw the chocolate bar on the rock, "How can you be obvious after what happened to Mica."
"These creatures are sensitive to noises and flashes." Yvelisse held her patience and warned the woman once again.
Waden then raised his head like a startled cat, "Did you guys hear that?"
The group gathers in a circle with a reach holding out a weapon of protection, whatever was circling them was not in a group, it seemed to have powerful muscles that were cushioned with strong paws and great claws. Madden knew what was coming so he prepared his taser gun, keeping a hand close to his utility belt.
An enormous American Lion lunged at them from behind the tree, it snarled at the humans who had trespassed its cohabitation with the Utahraptors and native creatures. The American Lion began to surround them as if it was picking out a victim to be its dinner, almost like a buffet. Suddenly it decides to attack Madden but he jams the taser at the neck of the creature, stabilizing it for a while, but as a response the animal slams its strong paws against his face, knocking him out.
Not short after that, the juvenile Utahraptor comes back and decides to intimidate the larger animal, the American Lion approaches the juvenile until its mother finally takes a stand, she orders her child to go back to safety.
"Omega." Yvelisse said under her breath while Waden pulled her away from this, the humans backed up as much as they can as the fight was no longer about them. The group shore Madden against a boulder and tries to bring him back
Omega barked at the American Lion with the opponent hissing at her. Soon the two animals get into a graphic fight, the feline clings onto her back and nabs its teeth on her neck, and Omega snarls slamming the large cat into the walls of the warehouse. Buying some time for the raptor to recover, the Lion roared and once again attempted to punch Omega, but this time she goes for the lunge, she successfully pins the American Lion down to the floor about to end the animal right there, but it manages to escape from the grip and turning the game upside down. Omega is about to face her last breath now, the American Lion suffocates her with its paw on her neck, she struggles to move while staring at her defenseless juvenile when suddenly a large zap of electricity hits the feline, seeing it back to the woods.
Omega slowly regains consciousness calling for her juvenile, she and her child are reunited but suddenly a dart hits her offspring causing her to freak and searches for whatever harmed its child, but soon enough the same had happened to her, and both were tranquilized on the floor. Madden blows the end of his gun, "Finally we can cut the crap and get this shit done with."
"What?" Both of the innocent survivors are caught by surprise and now their heads are covered by two bags and shoved into what seemed to be a tree and a rope.
Whatever may have led to this was obvious from the beginning, these people were up to no good. Their intentions with the animals remain a mystery, but Yvelisse and Waden are as defenseless as the juvenile now, with Madden taking control all over the operation and surprisingly way more people than predicted.
