Fun fact: The pillow trick and the plushie thing are taken directly from my experience as an older sibling! I'm the oldest of three, so I've gone through the whole 'meet the baby' process twice with my little brothers, though I was a little older than Mari when I did. First at five years old and second at seven with a little two-year-old tagalong to join me in the older siblings club. I miss having babies in the family, honestly-

'The plushie thing' explaination because its actually really wholesome: So my family has a tradition where my parents would go out and buy a plushie for the baby before they were born. Before I was born they bought a light brown bear that my dad decided to name 'Possum', my younger brother's plushie was a giraffe that my mom named 'Georgie', and my youngest brother's plushie was a dalmatian that someone (could have been me, now that I think about it-) named 'Dotters'. When Possum was bought, my parents slept with him in their bed so that when I was born he'd be full of snuggles and love for me, similarly, when Georgie was bought, he was given to me to do the same so that my little brother could have his big sibling's love with him, and then finally when Dotters came into the picture, my then two-year-old brother and I both shared Dotters so that our baby brother could have both of his big siblings' love with him. Our family had lots of sweet little traditions like that when it came to babies, I dunno, I just think its cute-

Mari tried to be patient as she sat in the car, really, she did! She'd only wriggled a little when her daddy tried to put her in her carseat! She was trying her bestest to be a good girl!

Being a good girl was hard, though, and being patient sucked.

She'd already been waiting forever and ever for today!

She kicked her little feet, almost losing one of her pretty purple mary janes as she did so. She insisted on dressing up real pretty for today.

Today was the day! She was going to meet the new baby!

She's wanted a baby sibling ever since she found out that her friend in her pre-school, Hero, had a baby brother. She even met baby Kel herself when her mommy and daddy had Mrs. Vasquez babysit her after pre-school! He was really cute and really small! Hero even showed her how to play nicely with him!

Ever since then, she'd talked and talked all about how good of a big sister she'd be. She played pretend with her dollies, treating them nicely and gently and taking care of them just like she'd seen Mrs. Vasquez do! That's why she was so excited when she found out she was gonna have a baby sibling all of her own!

No one ever told her how long you had to wait to get a baby sibling, though. It's been forever! Why couldn't the baby just appear like magic? That's what Mari wanted to know.

When Mr. Suzuki finally pulled into the hospital driveway, she kicked her feet and giggled excitedly, only stopping to stay still long enough to let her daddy unbuckle her from her carseat and lift her out of the car to take her into the hospital.
