Characters: Basil, Sunny, Mari (Technically Kel, Hero, Aubrey, and Polly are here too, but the ghosties can't interact with them so they're just kinda there at some point)

Ships: Past Picnic Sandwich, Sunflower (It's not like a main theme or anything and it's not explicitly romantic here, they're essentially just best friends with some fruity notes so y'all "Sunflower is toxic" people can shush they're in their healing arc and they both literally just died let them have feels)

Warnings: Spoilers, Major character death, Minor swearing, A part two of 'A Bittersweet Reunion', Post neutral ending, Knife edition, Sunny has joined the deceased, Oh dear, Hella angsty, Here comes our favourite warning, Discussion of murder, Yippee, More discussion of self-deletion as well, Uh-oh, Mari forgives the boys, She's just upset that they're all dying on her, Same girl, Like has it hit anyone else yet that the only ending where it's implied they all live is in the good ending? At least one person dies in every single other ending, And once one of them goes it's not guaranteed that the rest will just magically find a way to live peacefully after that, That is an extremely depressing fact, I headcanon that once they die they get sent to a place that was tailored to them specifically, Like the universe takes their personality, likes, dislikes, etc and creates a perfect place for them to rest, And the gang's is just headspace essentially, Mari was legit just placed in headspace because she felt she couldn't move on without helping the others, But now that everything's fallen apart she goes to a different version that isn't falling apart and tainted by trauma where she gets to rest, And Basil's there too now, So is Sunny soon yikes, Since everyone's essentially taken to an idealized 'happy place' they get to appear based on that too, So we get the colourful not-quite headspace versions, I'll probably draw that soon and post it along with the fic, Hurt/comfort baybeee, Sunny has come home 🥺, He's back with his big sister and his best friend, Where he belongs, It wasn't his time damnit, Universe you sick twisted bastard why must you take away all that is good, The Sun shone brighter when she was here, But now The Sun has died and taken his place alongside her among all the other stars where he was always meant to be, Ik ik I'm cheesy as all hell but what can I say I'm a poet at heart leave me alone, Also I've been listening to "The Moon Will Sing" by The Crane Wives on repeat because I adore symbolism like that and the song is gorgeous so it's influenced me a lil' too much at this point lmao, Mentions of bullying, Things suck but they're trying to make it better, Luckily the three that died are the ones who would absolutely use dark humour and trauma jokes to cope, They're already making jokes about their deaths help, I mean mood but calm down Sunny just died, Once again I headcanon that Mari and Basil actually were in headspace somehow, So that's a thing in this chapter, Brief discussion of heaven and hell, But it's brief, And they just don't exist in this chapter because I don't feel like opening up that debate

In a beautiful, green, grassy meadow speckled with patches of vibrant flora, a lone picnic blanket stood out on a hill by a large tree, two young souls just as colourful as the sights around them occupying the blanket with their picnic basket. An older girl with pale skin and black and purple hair sat with her legs folded underneath her while a younger boy with a more flushed, rosy complexion and blonde hair with a minty gradient lay with his head in her lap with his flower crown on the blanket beside him as he allowed the other to play with the fluffy locks.

Basil blinked his eyes open slowly as he felt Mari stop running her hands through his hair, squinting as he adjusted to the sunlight. He sat up and turned to the older girl questioningly.

"I-is something wrong, Mari?" The gardener asked.

"Yeah, I've got a bad feeling all of a sudden. Like something bad's about to happen," The pianist responded, seemingly staring off in a random direction in concentration.
