Dream's office was both entirely what Tommy expected and nothing like Tommy expected.
Sage green walls with white trims, photos hung on the walls and placed on the desk and a pale filing cabinet sitting in the corner. That's was the office part.
The not-office part had and axe, huge and netherite hung between two photos. One of Dream and a girl who might be related to him and the other of Dream and a gold man in a shark onesie.
If he hadn't been so jittery, he might've asked who the people in the photos were.
The most office-y part of the whole room was the huge, mahogany desk that Dream was sitting at.
And Tommy was standing in front of. About to get yelled at. Probably.
"Tommy, what where you thinking?"
Yep. Yelled at.
"What the fuck was going through your head that made you decide running into a burning building was a good idea?" Dream screeched at him.
"Well I was thinking that-"
"Were you?" Dream demanded, slamming his fist down on the desk. "Were you thinking? Because it sure as fuck didn't look like it."
Tommy flinched. "I- no I wasn't really thinking. I just wanted to help, please don't be angry."
Dreams posture relaxed a touch.
"I'm not angry," he crooned, "I'm your friend, Tommy. I don't want you to get hurt. That's not anger, that's me caring for you. That's what friends do."
"Can I.... Is there any way I can do more? I want to help people and I feel like I'm not really doing that. Please?"
The man stilled. "You want to do more? "Do more" in what way?"
"I don't want to sit on the sidelines as a "just in case". I don't even have to fight the villains, just help people while you guys fight."
"So... you want to be a sidekick."
"Yes!" Tommy nodded vigorously.
"Hmmmmm. Well, it'll be very tough, but I reckon I can pull some string."
His heart soared and he beamed at the masked man.
"And maybe, just maybe, I could ask for you to be my sidekick?"
"Really? Thank you Dream, thank you so much!"
Dream nodded slightly. "Of course, that could take a while, so, why don't we get started right away?"
"Yes!" Tommy shot up from the chair, practically dancing as he followed his mentor down the winding hallways of the HQ.
Dream slowed after a while, and ushered him into a darkened room, one reminiscent of the theatre he had snuck into with Ranboo and Tubbo.
Tommy frowned and shoved the two out of his mind.
He sat as Dream slotted a CD into a computer and an image flickered to life.
It was a PowerPoint.
Dream was showing him a PowerPoint.
The top hero was showing him a PowerPoint with the title "getting to know villains" in green comic sans.
What the fuck.
"Alright, first things first," Dream began, tapping the projected image with a pointer, "Before you can even start training how to fight properly, none of that play fighting you do usually, you need to know how the enemy fights. How the villains fight."
