Joey smiled watching Kahn as his mum elaborately plaited the mans hair back.
"Ouch! That pulled!"
Joey laughed at his childish exclamation and carried on polishing his shoes. He was excited about going over to the mayors with Kahn. It was like he was going to go on an extravagant date. The thought made Joeys cheeks flush happily and he looked up at Kahns face. The older man had his eyes scrunched closed like a child who had a nasty smell under his nose. Once his hair was done Kahn stood up and rubbed at his temples were his hair had been pulled at most. Pouting slightly he frowned when Joey laughed at him.
It just made Joey laugh harder as Kahn huffed and walked into the kitchen were Hansel was waiting for him with a smart suit. Kahn blushed slightly and automatically went to scratch his hair before stopping himself.
"...isn't that a bit too extravagant for the likes of me...?"
On the kitchen table was a black tail coat, a black waist coat embroidered with gold leaves, a steel grey silk shirt and smart black trousers. Hansel put his broad hands on Kahns shoulders and looked him in the eyes.
"You have lived with us as family for 5 years now. You are like another son to me and Freya, and a lover to Joey."
The man smiled as Kahns cheeks flared bright red and he stopped him before he could conjure an explaination.
"Our older son would have been proud to see how happy you've made Joey. I'm sure he wouldn't mind you wearing this."
Kahn nodded slowly and looked at the beautiful outfit on the table. As Kahn took off his clothes Hansel noticed the signs of abuse littered acrossed his torso. Sighing to himself, the farmer closed the kitchen door behind himself and walked into the living room were Joey was finished with his shoes. Hansel was proud of his young son and so was his wife. Joey flushed red as Kahn opened the door to the living room and was stood there looking more handsome then ever. He also looked slightly nervous, his hands kept fiddling with the tailcoats buttons. Joey crossed to Kahn and gently straightened out the tailcoats collar.
"You look very handsome."
And with those few words Kahn smiled so innocently and shyly all Joey could think of was a child who had gained praise without that being his intention. Joey kissed the older mans cheek and blushed, embarrassed, when Kahn gently gave him a peck on the lips.
Hansel and Freya smiled at the young couple before Freya mentioned that they better had get a move on. Kahn gently helped Joey into his own beautiful blazer and they followed Hansel out to the horse drawn carriage. Both young men were quiet as they travelled to the mayors. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, in fact it was quite pleasant. Joey let his head rest on Kahns shoulder as he vaguely worried about his fathers wellbeing. It couldn't be good for his 55 year old father to be driving the carriage in bitter weather. They both jumped a little when the carriage stopped and Kahn smiled when Joey blinked tiredly.
"I never knew carriage rides could be so lulling..."
Kahn chuckled and stroked Joeys cheek with absolute love in his eyes. Kahn loved the young man in his arms, his heart had become chained and bound to Joey with nothing but pure hearted kindness, love and affection. They joined Hansel and Kahn took notice of his surroundings. Full blooms of gypsy lockes, blood jewels and moon lilys were decadently woven about the gardens and fountains made out of rare and exquisite quality gold marble.
"Talk about showing off your wealth."
Kahns rather dry comment brought a smile to the old farmers lips but he stayed quiet. Most of the night was spent talking about farmlands, the costs of cattle and grains. However Hansel did take the time to teach Joey and Kahn the influential people other then the mayor. However Kahn lost track as an all too familiar scent wrapped round his senses and flooded out all rational reasons. Very quickly he reached out and firmly gripped Hansels shoulder. Hansel looked at Kahn in surprise but his eyes darkened as he took in the young mans face. Gone were the soft brown eyes and in their place were sullen and calculating orbs. Spinning round Kahn pointed to a tall bronzed man who had his arm round a rather delicate females waist. Behind them was a black haired young man covered in a multitude of exotic tattoos.
"Who is that!?"
Kahn hissed quietly, capturing Joeys attention. Joey could see the anger burning in his lovers eyes and it surprised him.
"That is Myriam, a rather arrogant sorceror and the young man behind him is his apprentice Kenneth. However...I do not recognize the young female he has by his side."
Kahns lips pulled back and he lowered his arm.
"Shana."
Hansel looked at the young man and gently touched Joeys shoulder. Joey looked up at his father and back at Kahn. He knew of the person that Kahn had just spoken of. But when he had spoken of Shana he had mentioned that the person was a male. Not female. Joey gently lay a hand on Kahns forearm and watched as the older man tore his attention from the couple above. His eyes darkened with sorrow and he firmly pressed his lips to Joeys before pulling away. Hansel nodded in agreement and took his son in his arms. The young man grabbed hold of his fathers sleeve tightly and fought back the urgent need to cry Kahns name. He could not, would not stop his beloved from regaining his family. If he did, how would he ever look him in the eyes again?
