It's been a few days since the nightmare incident, and it appeared as though Jisung was ignoring Minho. Well, he was.
Minho thought he did something wrong. Jisung didn't like his hair being touched, he knew that much.. But if that was the case, it wouldn't have relaxed him when he was still asleep. Every time Minho tried thinking about what he did that drove Jisung away, he kept hitting dead ends.
On the other hand, Jisung was currently at Changbin's dorm.
"You've been off lately. What is it?" Changbin asked, noticing how his friend kept falling off the map in Mario kart.
"Is it that obvious?" Jisung sighed.
"Yes. You're shit at masking emotions. You've been looking like a kicked puppy all day, and you've been hiding out in my dorm for the past three days."
"Oh.." Jisung set down his Wii remote.
"Tell me. What's up?"
"Well.. It's just that.. The other day, I had nightmares from middle school. And I guess it was apparent on the outside since Minho came to comfort me, and talk me out of it."
"And that's bad because...?"
"Because I realized that he's too precious to lose." Changbin frowned at that.
"What makes you so sure you're going to lose him?"
"Because I've lost everyone. They all left me because of those damn scientists that ruined my life." Jisung held his hands into fists in his lap.
"Everyone that has found out, has left me because they were scared of me. Or that they thought I was weird. A freak. I can't let that happen again."
"So you're just going to push him away yourself, in order to not lose him?" Changbin asked, making Jisung stay silent.
"Listen, Jisung. I know you're protecting yourself. But you need to let yourself be happy. You can't assume that everyone else is the same. You have to take risks to find happiness." Changbin said.
"But I don't deserv-'' Jisung started but was cut off by Changbin squishing his cheeks together with one hand.
"I'm gonna have to stop you right there. Don't you dare think about finishing that sentence because you are worthy of all the happiness in the world." Changbin finished, un-squishing Jisung's cheeks.
"And I wish I could provide that for you. But you have to do that yourself."
"I'm scared.." Jisung teared up.
"I know. It's not easy. But the first step is going back to your dorm, finding Minho, and apologizing for ignoring him."
"What if he questions why I ignored him?"
"Oh, he definitely will. Have fun untangling yourself from that."
🌙
"Why were you ignoring me?" Minho asked. Shit, Jisung thought.
"I'm sorry. I've just been having a lot on my mind lately." Jisung tapped his foot on the ground softly, feeling guilt wash over him like a bucket of ice water.
"What did I do?" Minho looked down at the floor avoiding eye contact, making Jisung panic.
"You didn't do anything, I just—I can't talk about it.. Please understand.." Jisung looked up at Minho. But Minho didn't know whether to believe him or not. Jisung noticed the boy's hesitation and sighed. He took small steps towards Minho, before wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his head on his shoulder, making Minho stiffen up instantly. His shock was now replaced with flusteredness, his face dusted with red as he slowly wrapped his arms around Jisung's shoulders.
"I'm sorry.." Jisung sniffed. Minho brought a hand up to Jisung's head, threading his fingers through the hair under his beanie like he did the other night.
"Stop apologizing. I understand." Minho rested his chin on Jisung's head.
Minho was not a hugger. Hell, he hated affection in all sorts of ways to the point where he was beginning to think that he was just destined to be alone for the rest of his life. But right now, having his arms wrapped tightly around the younger just felt so comfortable, so natural. He didn't know what it was but he didn't want to pull away. He just wanted to stay like this forever.
Oblivious to the windstorm of emotions in Jisung's head.
Jisung started to feel sad again thinking about the big chance that he might lose Minho if he ever found out his secret. Because why wouldn't he? He was the product of a lab experiment, for God's sake. The only way that hybrids were heard of were from kinky ao3 stories or fetishizing video games and films. How would Minho feel if they were real, and that Jisung was one? Not a cute little cat, not an adorable puppy, a bird. Weirded out? Disgusted? Would he move out? Would he turn Jisung in to the police? Would he call animal control? Would Jisung be submitted to a different lab and be tested on more?
Please stay with me.. Jisung thought, nuzzling his head more into Minho's neck.
"Are you okay?" Minho timidly asked Jisung as they reluctantly broke the hug.
"I'm not going to lie to you, I don't really know." Jisung rubbed his eye with his fist tiredly.
"Well.. whatever's going on, I hope you figure it out."
"Thanks.." Jisung offered Minho a pressed-lip smile.
"Let's go to sleep now, yeah? We have classes in the morning."
"Okay.."
