Maka's POV

"I'm really sorry"

That's all that I could say when Lord Death found out about me borrowing a level 4 book using another's library card. I watched as Papa tried to beg for leniency since it was the card I used.

"If we're talking blame here, Maka was freely borrowing the library books meant only for death scythes use because you lent her your ID, isn't that right?"

"I'm the one in the wrong. Please don't blame Papa. I knew that I was doing something wrong, that's why I just left an initial M because it felt like I was committing a crime, but... I just wanted to investigate Crona's black blood and Medusa, no matter what... That's why... I wanted to borrow a level 4 book... and what I ended up with was the manuscript of the Book of Eibon."

"Oh, who the hell cares? I'm a death scythe now, Anyway... It doesn't matter if she borrowed it a little early or a little late, right?" Soul argued

"That's not the problem here, is it?" I asked

"Well, if you don't receive a proper punishment regarding this little incident..."

"I know..." I stated

I heard footsteps and saw both Liz and Patty running in.

"Lord Death!" I heard the two twins yell out

"Kidd... Kidd..." Liz said as she tried to catch her breath

"Did you really find a way to get Kidd outta there?!" Patty asked

"It's a difficult method, and it won't go well if we don't bully quite a few people into lending their hands but..."

"If that's all, please let is pitch in too!" Liz yelled out

"And me!"

"Me too!"

"Of course, we're planning to get help from all of you members of the Spartoi. Besides, Maka's soul detection will be a crucial weapon for searching for Kidd... Eh, Lord Death?" Professor Stein asked

"I'm in no position to say anything, but... it wouldn't be too late to punish her afterward, would it?"

"Oh, please, Lord Death..." I begged

Before anyone could say anything I felt a familiar soul outside the office. I began running.

"Hey! Maka where are you going?!" Soul asked as he chased after me

I didn't answer him as I kept running. Upon reaching the door I quickly opened it and gasped seeing a familiar figure barely standing. She had badges wrapped around her body. I watched as Rinni looked up and gave me a small smile but the look in her eyes shocked me. Her once bright eyes full of optimism were now dull and showed hurt.

"Hey there..." she said weakly

She began to fall forward, Soul and I ran forward and were able to catch her.

Rinni's POV

It was the next day when I woke up. I was in the infirmary with an IV hooked up to me. I groaned as I pushed myself to sit up. I took deep breaths as I used the IV stand to help me up. I pulled the IV out and began walking to the place I knew would be the basement, using the IV stand to help me walk. I left the IV stand at the top of the stairs and began to run down as fast as I could.
