Chapter 40: Survive

Rinni's POV

I woke up to the sound of an explosion, looking around I was leaning against the rails and this caused me not to fall out. My arms were back to normal and it wasn't hurting as bad as it was before. I heard AJ's voice call for Clementine while I stood up, holding against the railing. I didn't have the luxury of time as I walked forward, using the railing as support.

"Clem! AJ!"

I saw Clem across from me and AJ hanging by a piece of metal. I saw the lifeboat and I nodded to Clem. She ran and jumped on it, luckily it held her weight.

"AJ let go and Clem will catch you!" I shouted

"You have to trust me and Rinni, AJ! On the count of three let go and I will catch you!" Clem said in a more reassuring tone

"Promise?!"

"Promise!" Clem and I screamed in unison

Clem caught AJ when he let go, I wanted to help but I don't think the boat can hold the weight of three people. I noticed the fraying rope and it seemed like Clementine noticed too.

"You two get over here and we'll get to a safer way out of this damned sinking ship!"

AJ was the first, he got a running head start and ran towards me. I quickly caught him and helped him towards a much stabler part of the railing. The fraying rope holding up one side of the lifeboat broke, luckily Clem managed to hold on to the wooden planks that serve as seats. I quickly grabbed AJ and led him to the pier when Clem told us to go there. I grabbed a hold of the young boy when an explosion went off, causing us to be flung off and land on top of the pier. I helped him up before gently going in Clementine's direction, reaching out my hand for her to grab.

She jumped and I immediately grabbed her and helped her stabilize herself. The boat was still giving off explosion after explosion as we ran on the roof of the pier. Halfway through we stopped and saw that there were more walkers if we went straight. I ran to the side and jumped down on top of a crate. I reached up and caught AJ as he also went down, then I helped Clem down as well. A raider shot arrows at us as he tried to stop us. I got hit and I pulled the arrow out, giving it to Clementine. When the raider got close enough Clem stabbed the arrow on his foot and tried to grab the bow. AJ ran forward and punched the man in the stomach before Clem shot him in the head. We ran to the side path of the pier as walkers were making their way towards us and the boat exploded.

We managed to get to shore when the boat let out one final big explosion as it fell to its side, sinking further. All I heard was ringing in my ears as I saw a walker approach Clem, which Louis killed with a big rock. I slowly got up as I felt some of the pain and exhaustion set in, granted I still had adrenaline running through my veins so it didn't hurt much. We then heard Violet scream.

"Clem you better help your girlfriend. We'll handle the walkers here"

Clementine nodded and went to help Violet while I helped AJ and Louis take care of the approaching walkers. I transformed my arms and began cutting down the walkers with ease. I transformed my arms back and strangely enough, they didn't hurt as much as they would have. We all met up with the others who were hiding behind rocks and barrels.

Clementine pointed to Willy and Ruby who had the cart ready to go for everyone. Assim waved at him and that caused us to get unwanted attention. Clem had to shoot one of the raiders and it all went downwards for their group from there. Minnie was the last one standing, using an ax to fight against the walkers.
