Poking Tom's cheek, Tom chuckled to himself. "You doing okay there, mate?"
Tom shot up and away from Marco, trying and failing to regain his composure. "Yep. Yeppi, yep, yep. Wha-What are you doing here? I thought you were dancing."
Marco snorted, rolling his eyes as he sat beside Tom. "As much as I love dancing and how amazing I do it in this outfit, I think I would prefer a more chill night without strenuous physical activity." Marco grinned as Tom blinked, looking confused. "I want to chat with you, Tom," Marco explained, laughing a little too hard.
"Oh! Well, that seems like something I can do." Tom hesitantly rested against the wall with Marco, instantly falling into their usual conversations. "You know I've really missed this, Tom. With our last movie nights over-shown by the portal calamity and Star showing up, it feels like forever since we've just talked." Marco let out a light sigh, leaning on Tom's shoulder. "I really like it."
"I-I really like it too, Marco." Tom smiled, remembering what Star had said. "Listen, I've been meaning to talk to you about something." Tom scratched the back of his neck, making Marco startle up. In the background, Star began her speech.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah! It's nothing bad. I just... I really like hanging out with you and Solar and I-" Tom took in a deep breath- "really like-"
"Help!"
The room fell into chaos as Princess Spiderbite ran up the stairs. Marco winced, pulling himself and Tom up. "Sorry, Tom, you'll have to tell me later." He rushed off as Tom grumbled.
"No, that's fine. Wasn't anything important."
The room was filled with accusations as people began to realise that Slime wasn't the only one missing. Marco and Solar shared a look of horror. "Star, where's Moc?"
Star gaped, looking around, but the monster wasn't there.
It didn't take long for divides to form, each shouting at each other. Star looked around in distress. "Stop! Please, everybody, just let me take care of this. Go back and enjoy the party. There's fresh punch; it's very cold. The Goblin Dog food truck is out front, and we even have some... jokes!" Star slid up to Ponyhead as she pushed the flying head into entertaining.
"Star, let us come." Marco stopped Star from leaving without her as she raised her eyebrow.
"Oh, no. Not that I don't trust you guys, but you're neither dressed nor prepared for a fight. You don't even have your weapons."
Marco shared a look with Solar as they nodded. Solar threw off his jacket dramatically, reaching into his back pocket and swinging the pole. He pressed a button on the side of his crown, the metal expanding instantly and forming a helmet around Solar's face.
Marco's helmet grew around his face as he pulled his butterfly knives out of his pockets. He smirked, twisting the blades around his hands. "You were saying? Besides, you saw us dancing. These outfits were designed to be multipurpose encase one is attacked at an important event."
Tom blinked, staring at Marco and Solar as he slid up to Star. "Can I go too?"
"Fine!" Star grabbed the candlestick and walked into the dungeon. "Slimy dude? You in here?"
"His name is Slime monster," Solar corrected."
"Yeah, but isn't that a bit racist," Star hissed back.
"Yeah, but some monsters are just like that. Moc's first name is monster."
"Wait, what?"
"What? You didn't think Moc was their actual name, did you?"
