It has been a week since that night and you and Tony had been avoiding eachother since. Whenever you'd run into him, the two of you stood awkwardly and left the room as fast as you could.
Of course the team noticed the elephant in the room, you told Natasha since you had always confided in eachother and she was good at secrets. However couldn't dare to tell anyone else, especially not Hunter.

It was the night of the Stark party. Although he claimed it was a 'business party' there were celebrities from all sectors of fame, from Hollywood to Bollywood, from Singers to Producers, from heroes to government officials.
The press were swarming the place taking photos of everything and anyone they could. Wearing your grey Zuhair Murad dress you had specially tailored for the party, you make your grand enterence in style.

You meet your favourite director Martin Scorsese and he introduces you to one of your all time crushes Leonardo DiCaprio. You hang around with them for a while fangirling over this moment and request them to make another movie. Apparently they were and offered you a role opposite Leo then you almost fainted.
You met a couple of other people like Tony's clients, Jenna Ortega, Emma Watson, Zac Effron, Ryan Gosling etc. And later go to join Steve who was laughing with Chris Pine, telling him to "Stop with your blue eyes bro".
Tony finds his way around the crowd and interrupts the three of your conversation "Sorry to interupt, but can I borrow Steve and Y/N for a moment"
He takes the two of you to the reception where he informs you that he's found the woman with the chip. The three of you take the chip and try finding a seperate private room to plug it into a computer. You push past multiple guests on your way until you catch attention of a familiar voice.
"Tony, Y/N"
You turn around and see Bruce standing amongst the crowd.
"Dr?" "Bruce?" "Banner?"
"Sorry Cap, didn't see you there, I just got back-"
"Really sorry Banner but we really got to run, there's something important we have to attend to. But glad your back, we'll catch up later" Tony said patting him on the shoulder then pulling you and Steve away again.
"What did I miss?" Bruce says quietly watching the three of you run off and Hunter joins him to introduce himself.

Tony plugs in the chip and it takes a while but you manage to find the exact time your culprit arrived at the scene. In fact the same figure had been seen entering Arthur's shop multiple times prior to the murder.
Everyone stands quietly in shock, replaying and staring into the face of the offender, zooming up closest they could no one could believe it.
"Y/N I'm so sorry, I didn't think-"
"No"
"Y/N look I know how your probably feeling right now but-"
"It's not true"
"Well it seems pretty clear to me" Tony interupted
"Quiet Stark. Look Y/N I'm here for you, we all our. None of us would have guessed but-"
"It doesn't make sense though, why would he come here 'pretend to be a scientist and HELP the avengers if he was a murderer" you say turning away from the computer
"That's true, we don't know his motif yet. Maybe he just had a feud with Arthur" Tony suggests
"That was my first thought, but there's been more than one incident around New York That's been covered up like this case" Steve turns to face you and is about to comfort you into his embrace but you push him away "Y/N, look he's an intruder, he probably just got close to you so he could take us out"
"That's not Hunter"
"To me it seems pretty obvious your boy's a criminal" Tony comments in the background
"That's not him, how can you even tell its blurry"
"It's clear enough to make out his face, you know you can't deny what you see"
"I don't believe it, I don't believe you two right now, how can you acuse your own friend of this. It's a set up"
Steve starts to build frustration at your constant denial of the obvious and turns to look you in the eyes.
"Y/N he was barely our friend"
"I'm not going to argue about that, I'm saying that Hunters not the bad guy here"
"So you're calling me a liar"
"Yeah" you see a flash of pain in his eyes as you speak "and you can be quiet Steve you just wanted him gone because you were jealous you couldn't have me"
"Well I'm sorry I fell in love with you"
You see his blue eyes turn to water, as you see this grief stucken ocean come to life,he holds it back with all his might, he ceases his tears before you could notice but it was too late.
Tony says he's going to find Hunter and the two of you follow on and leave the emotions behind in the room.
