It's 3:30 am, no other guests are allowed in the hospital but because you are the avengers they said "it's the least they could do" to let them bunk outside Tony's operating theatre.

They said he overdosed on a class A dug, but it had been apparent that he'd been taking them for a while, which none of you were aware of. However the overdose signs were clear and right in front of you the entire time. As the doctor listed any of the signs she should be aware of, you checked off most of them. Anxiety/paranoia, relentlessness/agitation, rapid breathing, hallucinations.

You informed the doctor on his drinking problem which may have contributed. Police took to investigation effective immediately, he was a profound celebrity after all.

They later came back with further evidence that pieced together some clues. They had found drink bottles lying around and once the forensics did their tests, they found that he had not only been intoxicated by the alcohol but it had been spiked with the drug.

The team had told you to go back for a while and to come back later, Steve came with; this way you could check up on your niece and nephews, something like this wasn't going to go from a kids mind, you knew from experience.

You knew you couldn't actually face them yourself, so Steve stepped in. You make your way upstairs. You didn't want to but knew you had to sleep now so you could stay by Tony at the hospital later when no one was there. He was in a stable but critical condition and you wanted to be there all the way.

To get to your room you'd have to pass Tony's room, that was the hardest most difficult part of it all.

The door is still open and you take a step inside. For a while you relive everything, you cry, fuel yourself with anger only to cry again. You miss him. Picking up the cracked photo frame of the team you had found earlier, you cradled it to your heart, tears dripping from your face your head begins to hurt. Water. Headaches.

You have a flashback to when Tony had informed you about the woman with footage, in relation to Arthur's death.

he feels his temples and squeezes his eyes "agh my head, Arthur's gone now who's gonna give me my usual"

"What usual?"

"The drink, you know that drink he always brings me that helps with my headaches"

His headaches. The usual. Arthur.

You realised the so called drinks that helped Tony with his headaches had actually been contributing to his declining state. Arthur had been supplying them to Tony and after he died, Tony had suffered from constant headaches. The headaches were from a sudden drop in taking them, the after affects. Tony used to be addicted to those drinks like hell, now you remember. You stopped seeing them afterward which is when Tony started having all these symptoms.

He must've found a way to get more though, you knew Tony still went through the common symptoms of a hungover and depression, considering the Pepper situation which must have led him to the excessive drinking of course.

But from there he began to become more and more aggressive, bipolar almost. That night when the team came back from that failed mission, you realised that Tony had been fine the night before.

It became more and more clear.

Tony, handling the captured agents alone, was still drinking on mission, and depressed from the whole Pepper situation. He sees more agents and goes after them. They spike his drink to fight him off then supplied him with more drugs which he had kept on him, recognising that same taste that he didn't show anyone. He was so high, he forgot who they were, and made up a story about how they were his "fans" because it sounded like any of his other missions where they would line up to watch him work first hand.

Had Nat and Bruce been there, they could have prevented any of this. Tony wouldn't have got spiked, the mission wouldn't have failed, Tony wouldn't have been supplied with anything that he would have continued to use. But there was no time for accusations and pointing fingers. What's done has been done.

The police investigators had come back to the hospital that time with packets of the Class A drug that the agents supposedly gave him, they had been able to identify them with what Tony had been putting in his drinks. He had overdosed to the point where he began throwing up his own blood, making him knock unconscious.

The only questions you had now were, Why did Arthur spike Tony's drinks in the first place? Did Tony know he was taking them? it could have been due to his relationship problems. But the one thing you've been questioning since the beginning that everyone else had too was what actually happened between Tony and Pepper?"

You knew it couldn't have been a huge incident, but seeing as it was a fallout between two lovers, what possibly could have come in the way of them that paved way to the Calamitous downfall of Tony Stark.
