50- I gave you goodbye

You can hear the sounds of shouts and subtle screams.

"No I want to see my boyfriend! I want to see Tony, do you even know who I am?!"

"Pepper? Calm down, hey you" he points to the guard "let her through she's a friend, we know her"

You open your eyes slightly to see Bruce and Steve giving way for Pepper Potts.

"Of course you do" mumbles the security guard.

This was the first time you or the team have seen her since her break with Tony.

She storms past you all, Nat and Bucky waking up from the chairs across from you, and makes her way over to the mirror-window glass.
Resting her head against the glass, she sobs heavily and mutters her regrets to herself, apologising for letting him leave.

You make your way over to comfort her, placing your hand on her shoulder but she immediately shrugs it off, you almost trip on your own feet by the way she turned to look you down.

"I heard what happened, don't think I don't know why he ended up here" she says, you stepping back with each stride she takes in your direction. "You pushed him here, you're the reason all this has happened. If it weren't for you, Tony would still be fine" she pushes you backward.

At this point Bucky had stood up and Steve was confused.

"What- what're you talking about, Pepper he came here because he overdosed. Look I'm sorry-"

"But you're not!" You look back at her in bewilderment, what did she mean it was your fault specifically. No one but the team knew about the argument from earlier and apart from that you both were friends.

Waiting for a reply she looks at you in astonishment, "I don't believe you, don't look at me so stupid you know what's going on" still the only reaction is confusion "Tony didn't tell you did he. Of course he didn't that's Tony for you alright" she looks over at the room he's in then back to you.

"Can someone please tell me what's going on here" Bucky asks, partially annoyed at being woken.

"Yeah Pepper please let us know rather than keeping it to yourself" you input.

"Do you want to know the real reason we broke up Y/N? It's because of you. My boyfriend who I loved and still will always love, broke up with me because he was in love with you." She says and you look back at her in both confusion and shock, Steve turns to look at you half distressed whilst Bruce leaves the room and Nat goes follows after him in worry.

"I don't know what kind of witch potion or spell you had on him, but you did it" she continues "You trapped him into endless nights of calling your name. That's right, not mine, your name. The subtle references of how you wouldn't do this and that to him, and constant stories of what Tony and y/n did today, drove me mad. And do you know what I did Y/N, I gave him the ultimatum. I said it's either her or me, the woman who stood by you all these years and cares for you in every way, her or me. And do you know what he said? He didn't. He just looked at me then went back to his suits. I kicked him out and he went running back to you and this is what you do to him"

You're lost for words, trying to absorb in all this information. Tony loved you. This whole time, he was acting up strange, his mini jealous encounters with your past boyfriends everything because he loved you.

"I'm the one breaking hearts? look who's talking, miss Barton to Barnes to Lance to Stark to Slater to Rogers"

He said Stark. He admitted it himself.

You want to speak, but you can't. Everytime you attempt to say something, your breath is cut off. This was your fault. Pepper is right. It's because of you he's in hospital and there's nothing you can do to rewind the past. Your tears begin to well up and Bucky notices.

"Hey, I know what your going through Pepper, but that's not Y/N's fault okay. If Tony liked her then that's on Tony, they were nothing but friends. But that has nothing to do with how he ended up here." Bucky confronts Pepper, defensive over you.

"Well if she even thought herself to be his friend, then she would have cared for him, noticed that I wasn't here and at least try to reach out for me if she'd noticed his struggling. What kind of friend would do that huh? what kind of friend would push the other to the edge whilst he was too good to leave you? Well guess what now he's gone and it's all thanks to her" she points her finger in your direction, this time Steve interjects and approached her.

"This isn't Y/N's fault, if anything we're all responsible for this, even Tony. We should have helped him when we could, Y/N actually tried her best to get him help but what you don't know Pepper is that when help finally came, Tony dismissed it. So please with upmost respect don't just barge right back into our lives, into Tony's life, to just incriminate Y/N, because I will never let that pass. Now if your here for Tony, all he needs you to do is sit and pray to God he'll get better soon"

With that he walks back to his position, leaving her rendered speechless, however this was followed by a collective of sobs and cries.

Still dumbstruck yourself, you hesitantly make your way to the door and depart, not looking back in fear of causing any more chaos to what was already pain inflicting upon everyone.
