You locked yourself in your room for almost a month, eating almost nothing and instead mourning. Rufus rarely bothered you except maybe putting down a hot meal in front of your door that was rarely touched. You refused to eat that man's cooking unless you were absolutely starving, and in some cases you were. Most you weren't. You lost a significant amount of weight, so much so that when the social worker came for visits she suggested a meal plan, in which you denied instantly and told her to leave. However, after a month it was time for you to begin school again. The social worker had worryingly assisted you with fitting into your uniform, noticing the measurement difference compared to her records. She did her best to comfort and talk to you, but you had no trouble brushing her off. She was relentless, however, and every time she stopped by she would force a conversation even if she was the only one talking.
When the morning of your first day rolled around, you heard your alarm blare from your phone. You groggily turned it off, struggling to even sit up. You barely moved for over a month, and now you suddenly had to start functioning again. You threw on the ugly uniform, consisting of a short sleeved button down white shirt with a striped blue tie, matching a blue skirt. You slipped on the dark blue socks and black shoes that came with the fit and trudged downstairs, throwing your bag over your shoulder.
"I made some pancakes for breakfast, {Y/N}." Your father sheepishly smiled from the bottom of the stairs. "Would you like one?"
"No."
Brushing past him, you reached for the door handle and had opened the door only an inch before you heard your fathers footsteps coming towards you. As you turned to face him his arm was extended high above your head, slamming the door shut. He seemed furious, his gentle demeanor turning into a scowl as he looked down at you.
"I have been so fucking nice, leaving you alone for an entire month and playing nice with the social worker. The least you can do for me in return is to come to the kitchen and eat a god damn pancake that I woke up to cook for you."
You winced as you glanced in his direction. You were just waiting for this moment, knowing he would turn into the monster that he truly was. The aroma from the kitchen did indeed smell nice, but wasn't enticing enough for you to fall into his clutches. You made a break for the backdoor that was attached to the kitchen, shoving past him and refusing to look back. You could hear his angry screams from inside as you jumped the backyard gate. You weren't going to give him the chance.
After some distance you stopped and panted, wiping sweat from your forehead. This wasn't how you wanted to start school. It wasn't a far walk from home, you saw a lot of other students wearing the same uniform making their way down the road to the school. You took a minute to catch your breath, collecting yourself and straightening out your uniform and fixing your bag into a more comfortable position. Your heart was still pounding as you walked a normal pace, keeping your head low and eyes on your feet.
As your eyesight was not on the scene in front of you, you walked straight into someone. With a gasp you backed up a few feet, finally lifting your head and turning your attention to your surroundings. The figure you bumped into wore the male school uniform, consisting of everything you wore except males wore the blue plaid pants. He had silver shoulder length hair and what seemed like piercing blueish green eyes, staring over his shoulder with surprise when you bumped into him. Beside him was another boy but much shorter, wearing the same uniform and had spiked brunette hair. His blue eyes were large and bright, and a smile was plastered on his face.
"Hey, sorry. I didn't realize I walked so slow." The boy with silver hair said as he turned to fully face you. "You okay?"
You nodded your head and muttered an apology, attempting to simply go around them and continue on your way. However, the boy with brown hair stood in front of you, extending an arm for a handshake as he greeted you with his goofy smile.
