Vanitas End

You searched for one specific boy in the group, looking towards a corner away from everyone. When you finally found him he was glumly in the corner exactly where you assumed he'd be. He was slouching in his chair with a pout, glaring at those staring from above. You giggled to yourself and hesitated no further as you approached him.

"Is this seat taken?" You asked gently.

Vanitas rolled his eyes. "Not unless I throw it at one of those fucks."

You followed his gaze upwards as he continued to glare at the hotel guests staring from above. When you looked back to him he could tell he was practicing some breathing exercise as his chest puffed in and out slowly. You sat down beside him, placing a gentle hand on his thigh.

"Hey, it's okay. Let's just eat and focus on having fun." You shot him a reassuring smile. "I'm surprised you're even here honestly."

"I'm only here because -" He stopped himself as if he was about to spill some huge secret. "... Because Sora wanted me here. Anyway what did you get for food?"

You were a bit perplexed by his correction but decided to ignore it and chat with him as dinner was being served. You noticed his golden eyes staring upwards every now and again, trying so hard to focus on you but instead was uncomfortable with everyone from above staring. You couldn't help but smile with a closed mouth as you knew he was uncomfortable. Towards the end of dinner he had finally slammed his napkin on the table and snapped to his feet.

"{Y/N} I'm going outside if you wanna come." He grumbled with clenched teeth.

You tenderly grabbed a hold of his hand and tugged it to indicate you wanted to leave with him. He seemed relieved as his demeanor suddenly changed and he shot you a thankful look. He guided you towards the back, throwing opened large double doors leading to one of many ponds scattered about on property. Water droplets from a fountain inside the pond blew in the wind as you felt them land on your skin. The two of you began walking along the edge of the pond, your hands still holding one another.

"... Sorry for being a grump." He muttered as his eyes avoided yours. "I hate people staring at me."

You stopped walking, causing him to stop in confusion. Your grip tightened as you stared into his eyes with a bright and reassuring smile.

"Van don't be sorry. Do you feel better now? It's nice out here."

He paused, simply staring at you intently. When you opened your mouth to ask him what was wrong, he suddenly shook his head and chuckled quietly to himself.

"Look at you. Look how much you've grown and how happy you are." His eyes gentled. "Fuck I just... I can't keep this to myself anymore."

You tilted your head in confusion. "Van what-"

"I have been through some shit and I caused most of it. I was swallowed into some dark abyss I didn't think I'd make it out of, until I met you. Seeing you grow and seeing your light shine gave me something to protect; something to live for. I want to be the reason your light continues to shine."

You felt your cheeks grow hot. "Vanitas you've helped me so much, of course I'm shining now. You have no idea what you've done for me so I could stand here today, holding your hand and enjoying this moment."

His arm reached out and gently caressed your cheek. "{Y/N} I think I've fallen in love with you. If I knew you felt the same way I would have admitted this sooner."

"I do feel the same."

Vanitas showed the most excitement you've ever seen him. He seemed jittery, his hand shaking as he bit his bottom lip. You noticed him leaning forward, and with a sudden urge to come into contact you followed his guidance and also leaned forward to close the gap between you.

He suddenly released your hand to slip that arm behind your waist in order to bring your hips closer to him. The hand on your cheek remained, but tightened as your arms had a mind of their own as they reached upwards to wrap around his neck. Before you knew it, the gap had finally closed as your lips met his. The kiss was sublime and more than you could ever ask for, a moment you'd cherish forever. A moment you've wanted for a while. Your body grew hot but also shivered with excitement as he pulled you closer to deepen the kiss.

When you broke apart the warmth of his touch lingered in your lips. He stared lovingly into your eyes as they met each other.

"Thank you for bringing me out of my darkness. I love you {Y/N}."
