Chapter 6

You rushed to school the next morning, not wanting to be seen walking with your chosen person of last night. You slipped into first period being one of the first student to arrive other than Ventus of course. Being in the student counsel kept him on his toes. You sat beside him in your usual spot, rummaging through your book for your notebook.

"Hey, glad Noctis walked you home safe and sound." Ventus commented with a shy smile.

You placed your notebook on your desk. "I had a lot of fun yesterday. Thank you... For forcing me to come out."

"That was Kairi not me."

The two of you quietly chuckled together as the bell rang, signaling class was about to start. You were feeling positive about the day, with the events of last night still lingering in your mind. The only thing on your mind was yesterday and a sudden weight lifted off your shoulders, as if they had taken a giant boulder off. It was certainly a nice change of pace compared to your usual bitter thoughts of Rufus. As the day went by you had your head lifted up this time around. You took notice of all the posters over the school halls, everyone's smiling faces, and the overall glam of the school. You were too busy looking to the floor most of the time that for some reason you didn't notice even the most obvious details.

When lunch rolled around you walked in and immediately the group of people you hung out with just the night before all chimed in for you to sit with them. It was a chorus of "Over here {Y/N}!" Urging you to sit. They had such a large group that they moved tables around just so everyone could fit. Axel, Roxas, Sora, Riku, Noctis, Kairi, Namine, Xion, Ventus... You only noticed one person missing.

"Where's Vanitas?" You slid into the edge of the seat besides Ventus and sitting across from Roxas.

"Probably being the anti-hero somewhere." You heard Ventus mutter as he glared down at his food.

You lifted an eyebrow and noticed the tension coming from Ventus once again, however you wouldn't want anyone asking about your personal issues and assumed Ventus wouldn't want you asking about his either. You simply nodded in response and allowed someone else to quickly change the conversation. Sitting besides Roxas was Axel, who had placed a pea on his spoon and shot it to Ventus. Ventus had triumphantly caught it in his mouth.

"Why are you picking on me? Go annoy Roxas." Ventus said with a playful eye roll.

Axel looked from one twin to the other and exaggerated a shocked face. "Whaaattt?? I thought I was sitting next to Roxas this whole time!"

Xion peeked her head over, focusing her attention from one side of the table to yours. "Axel stop being an idiot."

"Idiot? Have you even met Roxas?!"

Your end of the table all laughed, but Xion's sudden gasp and surprised look got your attention. She pointed to the empty spot in front of you, noticing something.

"Oh I'm so sorry {Y/N}! We all just kinda had you sit that you didn't have a chance to get lunch." Xion frowned.

You shook your head. "No-no I'm fi-"

"Oh wowww that's crazyyyy!" Roxas stood from his spot as he interrupted you. "I'm right at the end so no one has to move! Wow! I can go get you a tray {Y/N} I am so sorry we distracted you. Stay put I'll be quick."

You were charmed as you watched him jog to gather you a tray. What a sneak. You had eaten a lot more yesterday than you usually did, so you were still slightly fuller than normal even if it was from the previous day. However you weren't going to make a scene, because then someone would definitely know something was up. You wanted as little attention to your situation as possible, but these teens weren't dumb. Some of them caught on pretty quickly, and if they haven't then you assumed they would soon. With a sudden frown you rested your chin inside the palm of your hand. These guys were too nice. The cold treatment you gave them when you started made you feel guilty.
