Arilynn Hamilton

I'd been in Nathan's penthouse alone for no longer then fifteen minutes when the elevator dinged breaking me from my torrent of thoughts.

Before leaving the Gala I'd ran into Scarlett who I'd genuinely had conversation with, and been careful to not mention anything that was personal to Nathan. If she knew or not that was cast aside. How the man I was dating worked was no one got a second chance. If it was good or not it just wasn't how he was, so I respected it.

What I did get to know, was that Scarlett's family was falling apart, and falling apart quickly, along with her wishing she was back in New Haven with her boyfriend Derek.

The part that I was still wrapping my head around was the fact that she wished me well, and that she stated that she could see how happy Nathan was with me. Typically people's exes were mad, or upset. Angry that one person had moved on while pretending that they had themselves. It showed how equal it was between Nathan and Scarlett till the end of their relationship.

Turning around from the window I watched Nathan cross the room to where I was and wrapped me in his arms providing a warmth I didn't realize the room was missing.

"How was talking to your parents?" I ask and he seems like he debates saying something.

"It was interesting. Got to learn a lot more then I thought I would" Nathan says before leaning down to kiss me.

"How was being around the group".

"It was pretty funny, they all are like children, Lucian and I were the only semi mature ones at that table until I chose to leave" I say and a soft smile crosses his face as he likely mentally pictured it.

"I'm not even mildly surprised by that. Anyone get in trouble?" Nathan prys as if it was a normal occurrence for something to happen that would trigger it.

"Not at all. I got to talk to your ex" I say and Nathan let's go of me before humming and moving towards the kitchen.

"Anything said?".

The question was simple, and yet those two words held a lot more meaning then I think I was able to pick out.

"No mostly that she wishes she was back in New Haven we talked about how things were. I did a little digging, wanted to know more in hopes I could be a better girlfriend for you".

"I have two exes, and luckily one isn't holding grudges, the other I couldn't say, I haven't seen her in a while".

"Natalia?" I puzzle and Nathan nods before pulling out a jug of raspberry lemonade and filling a glass.

"I should warn you of a lot of things that could make our lives messy or at the minimum complicated" Nathan says walking back into the living room area.

"Okay" I say preparing myself for whatever it was Nathan was about to tell me. I doubt it would be bad. I just didn't know what to expect.

"Natalia was at Harvard to spy on the Winters Family specifically me and my sisters. I knew of this and had been slowly working to moving away from that. The fact she attends parties that her former addiction is present at made me do a deeper dive so there is that. A war is starting to break out behind the publics eye between my family and Scarlett's. And the reason I'd gone to my parents penthouse was to learn my cousin is my half sister. Vanessa Saint Laurent. My dad was the surrogate father since Logan was unable to produce enough semen" Nathan rattles off but the last one catches me off guard.

"Three sisters Jesus" I remark.

"She remains my cousin, just interesting to learn that after nineteen years. We all just assumed the resemblances were because of not so distant genes" Nathan says.

"I think you are going to have a fun time being an adult and explaining to your kids that your cousin is really their aunt" I muse and he laughs.

"Family is family that's just how I view it. Relation isn't terribly known since everyone is always around one another".

"I can see how that's a thing" I utter and he let's out a sigh.

"I told you my family is messy, powerful and influential yes, but there is always something going on inside or outside of the tight knit circle that holds that title".

"Has there ever been a major Winters Group fiasco?".

"Assassinations, the way my parents rebuilt the company, methods of running it that went against some laws based on region. The tower in downtown Manhattan breaks the rules of how tall a building may be. People have tried saying that it's a fraud company, and that there is no way a company could become this big privately, and outside the publics eye".

"Didn't someone once try to find ways of proving WGI didn't pay taxes and had been money laundering and all these other financial crimes?".

Nathan smiled lightly and nodded while chuckling to himself, "this accountant whose firm had been busted by WGI for surplus charges that most people wouldn't have noticed. They'd been siphoning money, it's fairly common unfortunately, that's why everything in our company gets tracked. Sort of like our in house insurance policy" he muses.

"Anyways WGI ended up holding a strong defence and it was over quickly. The accountant was legally obligated to pay everyone's legal fees. No idea what happened to him, don't particularly care. The lawsuit wasn't about the name on the company door, it was about how all the people who work for WGI could have lost their jobs and houses if something was falsely proven especially like that".

"I can't imagine being dumb enough to try and best Winters Group in anything related to business".

"There are clear contenders just all those people are close friends and not one of us would try to oust one another".

"That's probably because you all are New York's golden quartet".

"You are apart of that quartet. How you can think about how that may be?" Nathen muses as he took a tentative sip from his glass.

"Because I'm your girlfriend Mr. Winters" I reply with a hum and he smiles setting the glass down on one of the side tables in the living room before moving towards me again.

"Indeed you are love. And you are perfect just like that for now" he replies using one hand to hold my waist and another to hold the side of my face softly rubbing my cheek as he does so.

"For now?".

"Stick around and find out Arilynn".

I feel this bubbling in my stomach, as a zoo slowly builds from the look in his eyes. It was deep and pure, and I felt like I was drowning in them. The swirling grey storm that was hidden behind flecks of green and the fiery ring in the middle that seemed closer to copper then the gold his dad was often reputed of having.

"I plan too Nathan, I want to for as long as you let me".

"I have no reason to push you away".

"And I have every reason to stay".

"I hope so, also I haven't spent much time tonight with you so how would you like me to spend it with you?".

I though about it for a moment, having to pull myself from his eyes that I'd admit I was guilty of getting lost in.

"A movie and cuddles, get your six foot ass comfy in that giant bed upstairs" I say and Nathan humours me giving me a playful salute.

"Yes ma'am" Nathan says before heading off to his room while I laughed and watched him go.

That boy is so many things that equal perfection.

And moving my thoughts aside I made popcorn before filling two bowls, and covering them in butter before going to join my favourite raven haired man.

Shorter update I know but they can't all be long. Comment, vote, and share. Anyways

Peace✌️
