Painful Halloween- chapter 9

I barely finish the bag of chips and I already feel sick. I crumple the garbage٫ get up٫ and toss it in a nearby trash can.

I try to distance myself from Zuri٫ but it doesn't work well throughout the rest of the day. She tries to stay near me all the time and when I walk away she follows٫ not caring about what she was doing.

I got a bit frustrated but the day was almost over٫ so I contained myself.

Me and Zuri were standing around a haunted area of the field. I look around and catch Alexa glancing at me٫ she looks away when we make eye contact. I was a little confused٫ I tried to ignore it but I couldn't pay attention to anything else.

I heard a loud noise and literally screamed. "Woah woah٫ it's okay Amiliea. Chill out٫ we'll go some other place alright?" Zuri takes my my hand and I nod.

We head over to the dance but the music was too loud٫ we tried to play some games but everyone seemed so competitive. So we just went and sat by our bags.

We were still holding hands and I wanted to let go but everytime I tried my grip only got tighter. "You alright Amiliea?" Zuri turns to me٫ she can feel my grip on her hand getting worse. I look at her helplessly but remain silent.

"I know٫ today was overwhelming. But just a few more minutes Liea." Zuri strokes her thumb back and forth on my hand in a soothing way. Did she just- give me a nickname?

My eyes slightly widened٫ but my grip gets lighter as she gets me in a calming state of mind. I close my eyes and forget everything.

A couple minutes later I open my eyes to the sound of the bell ringing. The day was finally over. Zuri gets up to put on her bag٫ my hand already missing her touch.

She offers me a hand to help me get up and I gladly accept. I put my bag on and Zuri asks٫ "may I walk you home?"

She smiles٫ but I remember Alexa's words and take a slight step back. "No thank you٫ not today." I look down٫ us both in silence and not moving. When I look up٫ I see her staring me right in the eye.

"Please Liea? I want to make sure you're safe." Zuri looks at me a way I'd never seen before. I start to blush and give in. She takes my hand and we start walking to my house.

We're about half way to my house and I can feel all the emotions and thoughts mixing around in my stomach. I almost wanted to puke٫ but I couldn't. I was with Zuri.

I finally see my house٫ and we say good bye to each other. As I enter my house everything only feels worse. I quickly run up to my room.

Even more to think about now. I didn't know what to think. I just sit on my bed waiting for the tears to come out.
