AMARI ROUSSEAU

"But-"

"But what, Celeste? None of us where good enough for you, was that it?" Papa shouted.

"You're causing a scene; I'm going to suggest everyone just calms down or I'll have to escort you out." A security guard said as he came over to us.

"Don't worry, we were just about to leave anyway."

"I need to get my purse, take them home. I'll get a lift with Nikolai." I said to Papa.

"Are you sure?" I nodded.

"Let Danny know you're leaving, he can go later with Liv."

"I'll see you later." Papa whispered before kissing my cheek, taking Antoine and Manny away.

"Help me find my purse please." I said, turning to Nikolai.

"Amari?" I heard Celeste say.

"What? What do you want?"

"I want you to know that I'm still your family."

"You're not."

"I am. I got married and had kids so you have siblings too. You have a little brother, who's 11, and a sisters, who's 8." I felt my heart drop.

Antoine's 13 and she left when he was 2. That means she got pregnant with that child as soon as she left.

"I never want to see you again, do you hear me? I don't want you or your kids around me, Papa, my son or my brother. They're not my family because you aren't. We've been perfectly fine without you and we will continue that way." I said, walking away from her.

I walked out of the big room and into a corridor, Nikolai and Liv following close behind me. I stopped, leaning my head on the wall, trying to slow my breathing.

"Why- why did she-" I clutched onto my chest and I felt like I was suffocating. Niko pulled me into his arms and I gripped onto him.

"She's having a panic attack." I heard Liv say and my eyelids got heavy before everything faded to black.

NIKOLAI EVANS

I got back to my place and laid Amari on the bed, taking off her shoes. Liv and Silas walked in, looking down at her. "She'll be ok, she just needs some rest. I've told her dad what happened. He said she should stay here for the night, if that's ok with you?"

"Yeah, that's fine. So- so what do I do now?"

"Just make sure you're there when she wakes up. She won't want to be alone." I nodded as they both left the room. I picked out a tshirt and some shorts for Amari to wear when she woke up before lying down next to her.

I watched Amari stir in her sleep before her eyes fluttered open. "Hey, princess." I said softly. She looked around and smiled weakly when she realised where we were.

"Where's Manny?"

"Home, with your dad and brother." She nodded and we laid down in silence for a while. "You had a panic attack."

"I'm sorry."

"Don't apologise for that." Amari looked up at me, tears filling her eyes. "Come here." She straddled my lap and laid down so we were chest to chest, her head buried in the crook of my neck. I rubbed my hand on her back as she started to sob. "Do they happen a lot?" I asked worriedly.
