AMARI ROUSSEAU

"Nikolai's here." Ant said from the door and I mentally face palmed myself. I forgot to cancel our date.

I slowly got up, being careful to not wake up Liv before making my way downstairs. He had a bouquet of roses in his hands and I watched his expression drop when he saw I wasn't ready.

"You're not dressed..." He said quietly.

"Niko, I'm so, so sorry. I forgot to call you. Something happened with Liv. She's not in the best place right now and I can't leave her alone." He smiled sadly and nodded.

"That's ok, I understand. You have to be there for her." He handed me the flowers. "These are for you."

"They're beautiful, thank you." I whispered as I hugged him and kissed his cheek. I walked over to the kitchen, filling a vase with water and put them inside. I sat on the counter top and Niko stood between my legs.

"Are you ok?" He whispered. I nodded in response but he tilted his head at me and I felt my eyes fill up with tears. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked softly, cupping my cheeks.

"I'm sorry. Just- just a lot has happened in under twenty four hours. It's- ugh. I don't even know. I need to focus on Liv and helping her."

"Is she upset about the break up?"

"The what- he broke up with her?" I asked, a sense of rage filling me.

"No, she broke up with him." My expression dropped.

"When?"

"A couple hours ago." Shit, probably just after she lost the baby.

"She's going through something right now, it's not my place to say what it is but I know she didn't mean it. She probably thinks she's protecting him." He nodded in understanding. "I'm gonna need to take some time off from work."

"Take as long as you need, just let me know when you're ready to come back." I nodded and thanked him.

"Can you stay for a while, please?"

"Of course, princess." He said softly, leading me to the couch. I laid down comfortably on top of him and he rubbed his hand up and down my back soothingly.

NIKOLAI EVANS

"You're dismissed." Dad said and our men filed out of the room. He arranged a meeting about loyalty and commitment or something like that. In all honesty I stopped listening. "What's wrong with you two? I doubt either of you listened to a word I just said." He said to me and Silas.

"I was listening, you said stuff about loyalty, right?" I said.

"That was in the first thirty seconds of the the thirty minute meeting."

"Oh, then I stopped listening after that."

"They're both upset over their girlfriends." Blue said with a laugh.

"She's not actually my girlfriend yet." I mumbled.

"What did I tell you about getting distracted by her, Nikolai?" I sighed heavily, not wanting to hear the lecture to follow.
