Poem#15: Unrequited Love

You're like an expensive jewel that I could never have,
Like a cloud that I couldn't even reach,
Like a fire that I could never caress,
And you're like a fantasy that never arrives in my reality.

How foolish am I to feel admiration toward you?
An unrequited love you never knew.
I'd risked admitting these feelings,
But I failed and ended up losing.

I wasted countless tears,
Defeated by my predictions and fears.
Where pain is visibly unbearable,
from thy selfish rule of wanting me when no one's available.

I do love you,
Although I'm aware I never got a chance with you.
I fell deeply in love with you, and I still do.
Yet you deeply fell into someone you once knew.
A constant friend you knew before I came across you.

How ironic, how fate anchors at an unfortunate moment.
Still, this fondness towards you must come to put an end.
Perhaps it was meant, from the first time we met.
Wishing upon the stars that this love I felt doesn't happen,

My dear FRIEND.
