I sat along my sofa and Caroline and Chloe sat across from me, drinking raspberry tea.

"So what brings you two here?" I asked them.

"Certainly not me." Chloe said.

"Bullshit, Chloe." Caroline said.

"Well, it wasn't my choice. If it were up to me, we'd be in Maine right now to get away from here." Chloe said.

"Stop over exaggerating." Caroline groaned, before turning towards me. "We're here because I believe Chloe owes you an apology."

At the moment after she said that, I almost spit out my own tea.

I hadn't ever had even the slightest belief that Chloe would apologize to me and mean it.

Although, this time, if she did, I know she wouldn't mean it.

"It's in the past, Caroline." I said. "She hated me and she probably still does but, it doesn't matter anymore. I don't think so, at least."

"But Elliana, it does." Caroline said.

"No, it's fine, Caroline."

Oh, I rhymed.

I feel victorious for it.

A single set of footsteps were heard descending the stairs.

"Cupcake, it's two in the morning. What are you doing up?" Colton said.

I could see him rubbing his eyes as his sweats hung on his hips and his upper torso was bare of a shirt.

I was sleeping against that?

I'm so oblivious.

How did I not realize?

I take a quick glance at Chloe and see her eyes glaze over each part of his body for a little too long.

If only I had an accidental muscle spasm right now while passing by her.

Sadly, I did not.

Fortunately, Colton passed by her like she is a mere dust spectacle in the air.

Although, he did not look at her as he sat down next to me, he did notice her.

"What the fuck is she doing here?" He pointed to Caroline.

"Colton, that's Caroline."

"Oh, shit. Sorry." He apologized.

He then pointed to Chloe. "What the fuck is she doing here?"

"Caroline has brought her here to apologize."

Colton chuckled, without humor lacing it. "I don't think that's happening anytime soon."

Caroline scowled.

"Why not?" I asked.

Colton's facial expression towards me told me that he was wondering whether I was joking with him or not.

I'm not.

"Can I speak to you for a moment, Elliana?" Colton asked. "Please?"

I got up and followed him to the kitchen.

"Why not?" I asked him.

"Do you remember what she did?" He asked, slightly raising his voice.

"Of course I do." I said.

"She was next in line to kill you five years ago, if I hadn't." Colton said. "If Brendan hadn't been caught in that hospital, you'd be gone."

"Where would you be?" I asked.
